A quick Saturday outing.

We had a bit of spare time and drove out into the countryside in a different area.

I stopped often to get some shots and there is a few surprises in here.

Like I said, we didn't have a lot of time, so I will call this a quick scouting outing for future explorations. Nevertheless it was nice experience and I am sure that I will get some great photos here in the future. We like the adventures that our explorations deliver and I feel very good about this area in the countryside.
So come and take a quick drive with us.

There is a thing called Twin peaks, but here I have a thing called Three peaks as my main aim was to get the moon on the mountain.

Yay! At last, I was going to get a full plane on the moon again.
But guess what happened? As the plane neared the moon, I got the focus ready and then I heard the "tink, tink" warning to change the battery.
So no plane for me on the moon.

I know now the route that the planes take and in future where to get them on the mountain.

What a surprise to get this big gold fish in a pond.

Another surprise to get two fancy chickens.

And then we were on our way back again.

Just a quick excursion that is going to deliver great positives in the future, as between our two towns there are many farms and many of them have restaurants with coffee shops out in the open.
You may know by now that we love open coffee shops as there is always action in the skies and in the surrounding nature.
So I would call this excursion a great success.

I hope that you would also call it that.

Hi Zac,

it's a beautiful area you are living in now. There are so many new and beautiful things to explore. I think I like the shot with the moon over the 3 peaks most today 😊

PS, my camera just shows me a little red battery symbol when the battery is low, and most times when I see it I think I can take two or three more photos, but I'm always wrong and the camera shuts down without any "tink tink" warning 😂 !LOLZ

thank you and yes, we are glad that we have moved here. It is still not the ideal place, but it will do for now. I would have like to get the moon closer to the peaks, but yes, you know what I will say here 😉

Oh man, I felt like taking the camera and throwing it into a bin, but it pleaded with me to give it another chance. I think the same as you, that there might still be a few shots, or at least one shot left, but yeah, Mother nature falls over backward with laughter 😛 !LOLZ

Good evening Zac,

I know you don#t like apps, but I have an app called Photopills that shows me almost exactly where the sun or the moon rises or is at a given time. Such an app might help you because there might be a day when the moon rises exactly where you want it to rise and you can catch it right over one of the peaks ... but yes, I do know what you will say here 😉 !LOLZ

Even I can laugh at it sometimes because by now I know how fast the camera shuts down, and still I try to take more shots 😅

PS, the app I mentioned above has told me where and when the sun would rise :)

Apps and me are not the greatest of friends, but this time I will take your advice and give it a try.
So I bet that you didn't expect this answer, but I just had to confuse you a little bit 🤣 !LOLZ

I am exactly the same, as the camera is off and I know it is off, but still I will click a few shots hoping for miracles 🤣

I always get the moon rise times wrong, as I got the moon on the mountains again today, but again my timing was wrong, as the moon was already higher than the mountain. You will see the moon in my second post 😛

Good evening Zac,

I've been too tired yesterday after my nightshift, so I reply once again one day later.

And today I am even more tired because I was teaching a colleague to do some of my work when I am not in the office ... or when I'm just too lazy 😂 !LOLZ
Can you imagine to get even more tired by letting someone else work? 😂😂😂

Thanks so much that you like the photo. On the phone it's much too dark, and I think also on most computer monitors, but I didn't want to make the mountain brighter.

You and an app? No way 😉

One thing has struck me now about all of your replies. You are really a tired guy. So I won't invite with on my visit to an island with some lovely young things, as you will be sleeping all of the time 🤣 !LOLZ

Nope I can't imagine that, as whenever I am letting someone else work, I watch them with an eagle eye, hoping that they will make a mistake, so I can show them how clever I am 😎

Well I liked the photo as it is and I thought of you when I took this today.

Yep, I am the same, but watching someone doing something that I do 10 times faster is boring and makes me tired 😉
But he is learning and until I will go on holidays in September he will be able to do most.

My cats know (think) I am the boss at home, so they wouldn't bite me, and please don't tell them that my wife is the real boss 😁

Hi Hannes, if I didn't know better I would start to call you sleepy Joe, but instead it is sleepy mountain goat. And lazy and I doubt if the young things could keep you awake for 10 minutes 🤣 !LOLZ

The one thing that I am glad about is that the new guy seems to be efficient, as this will take a lot off your shoulders. So you can look forward to a lot more sleeping time at work 🤣

He has never done our kind of work and he isn't very good at computers, but he wants to learn and that's great ... sleepy times are coming 💤

Haha, I would say it depend on the mountain we are climbing on 🤣 !LOLZ

Government workers are different from regular people in the "normal" world 😁 but I do hope that he's really willing to work.

I've had a lazy day at home after yesterday has been quite exhausting ... sitting in the car most time of the day can be very tiring 😂 and it was rainy all day long and I have packed some stuff for a hike that I have planned for tomorrow morning.

I have driven to our daughter and she has driven back, but all in all we've been sitting in the car for about 7 hours.

It's rainy and cold here, but tomorrow the weather will be nice again, says the weatherman, and this time I hope he's right, because after a cold hike today I want to visit a little river in Slovenia tomorrow morning.

As said before, I hope that the rain will not cause any floodings and just fill up the reservoirs, and I hope you're having a wonderful weekend anyway 🌞

7 hours in a car??? I didn't know that Austria is so big. So you decided to spend your birthday in a car with no cake and no gifts. What a weird way to spend a birthday, but then again I know that you and I are not normal 🤣 !LOLZ

The second cold front has now left today and thankfully no floods yet, so now we wait for the third one.

Good morning Zac,

so, now I'm starting to catch up ...

3.5 hours till we arrived at my daughter's apartment and 3.5 hours back in the evening, but in between we spend the time to move some more things from her old apartment to the new one, and next week we will do the same again.
And in between we also have had a delicious lunch 😋

Yep, the weather was great and I have taken a few photos, but I haven't edited them yet.

By now the 3rd cold front must be over and I do hope that nothing bad has happened. And I also hope that your plumbing work is making good process 😃

Great to see you again and it's amazing how one can get used to the replies in here. When you are gone it feels like a hole in all of the comments 😊

3.5 hours has to be from the one to the other border of your country😉
So 7 hours on wheels and then some furniture deliveries with a lunch as a bonus sounds very fair to me. No wonder that you were a wee bit tired 🤣 !LOLZ

Okay, it takes time to do the editing and you don't have much at the moment.

Nope, 3rd cold front came with a trick, as it brought with it the 4 to 5 days of fairy rain that we felt in the past. So It is still wet here and the weatherman reckons that it will stop some time tomorrow afternoon.
We will have lots of cloud and cold at 13C until Saturday morning.
Then next week the rain will start again.
You know what I will say here 😛

Yep, you're right, it's from the border in the south where I live almost to the northern border. And you know that even without 7 hours in the car I would have been tired 😂

As long as it's only raining and there are no damages by floods, I think it's okay.

We have had heavy rain storms all around just a couple of hours ago. Two people have been killed by a falling tree. I'm at nightshift and here we only have got some rain and strong wind - luckily no damages here.

I hope the rain next week will fill your reservoirs completely up and then the sun should start shining again 🌞

Every time that you tell me these distances, I am shocked at the tiny size of your country. Maybe they should scrap the name Austria and call it Austrilia, a suburb of Vienna 😮

Okay thus far my friend and now we have many snow reports from the inland areas. The closest snow fall here is in Jonkershoek near Stellenbosch. But we don't have enough in the tank to drive there, as it will upset our budget.

Sad about the two deaths my friend and even on night shift you should take care. Thankfully it's not bad where you are.
The news just in is that they closed some mountain passes due to accidents in the snow.

Haha, if you had lived here since you were born, you would think different: the distances are here long and the distances in the other countries are even longer 😂

There are still hevy rain storms all around and there are a lot of damages, but still we are lucky here.

I don't think that you guys down there have winter tires on your cars, so I am not surprised that there are a lot of accidents due to icy and snowy roads.

Yes, you are right as it all depends on where a person is born. Many don't travel an some on an island think that their island is the biggest country in the world 😉

Ah, that's all that counts, as the rains can be as heavy as they want, as long as no lives are lost.
I am surprised that you guys get no mud slides or serious floods.

Winter tires? No such things and never seen any. No need for them here and the snow only lasts for a few days. Unfortunately we all have speeding habits and speed on slippery roads is suicidal.

Oh, we do get mud slides and floods, but here the land is more flat and not as dangerous.

Our ice and snow stays for months, so we do need these special tires for low temperatures and these slippery roads.

Lucky you and I suppose that nobody lives below the water lines. That is what the problem is over here. Good new though as I read today that a minister is releasing higher government land in KZN for those below the water mark to move higher up.
I still don't know what's going to happen over here in our province.

Yes, I saw that and and the longest period that our snow lasts is maybe 3 weeks. That is in the provinces that get the most snow.
No wonder that it get's so cold over there and you almost live in a fridge 🤣

I remember the last big flood when my pregnant mother was flown by helicopter to the hospital to give birth to my little sister who is one year younger than me. This happened in 1966 and I don't really remember that day, but there are photos 😂 !LOLZ
