A river runs through it.

Come and walk with us to the flooding river.

Terrible floods here in the Cape lately and I have made a video to show you our placid river converted into a torrent.

Luckily in our town they have built storm water tunnels to prevent the water flowing off the mountains from flooding the houses. The result of having a huge flood here in the 90s that almost drowned the town.
But I talk too much and come walk with us.

Ha, nobody is going to use that waste bin today, as I think that the ground is a wee bit wet.

We are a hardy people and as the rain clouds slowly moved away, the people came out to play.

Here you can see the clouds moving away and for the first time in weeks we have an almost clear day today..

I think the water reminded him that he had to take a leak.
I have a funny problem and I don't know if you also have this problem?
Whenever I wash my hands and hear the running water, I want to take a leak. So yes, running water is my leak reminder.

Finally we have arrived at our tame little river, (whenever there's no rain), but the rain certainly transforms the river into a torrent during lengthy storms.

All of the low lying houses in the townships have been flooded and many Cape City suburbs have also not escaped the floods. I have seen a video with little dogs on their beds floating in knee deep water in the lounge of a modern house. Thankfully we are okay and are investigating the places where Papillon can be of assistance.

And That's All Friends!

Thank you and yes, thousands are suffering here in the floods.
This year we are getting more rain than usual and we have thankfully recovered from a very serious and long drought.
So there's two sides to the water, both good and bad.

We appreciate your work and your post has been manually curated by @redheadpei on behalf of Amazing Nature Community. It will be added to the weekly botany curation post. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing the pictures of the flooding river. Floods are significant concern for humans, animals and plants. They can spread infectious diseases and sometimes contain chemicals detrimental to agricultural land. On the other hand, they can bring to the land salt and nutrients in the sediment.

I glad your home was not affected by the flooding Zac.

Thank you kindly Lady Jo and yes Floods are bad news indeed, but there is yet another good side to the abundance of water, as it fills the dams for drinking water and irrigation of the crops on the farms.

So there is happiness that the rain brings and also suffering.
Very similar to our lives in this world.

Blessings and have some !PIZZA

Awesome Zac, great to see my home town in your photos. I'm now in the Garden Route and it has been sunny here most of the winter so far. It's milder here than the Cape of Storms lol.
Full upvote for you and your good work.

Thank you and if the Cape is your home town then you will know exactly what I am talking about.
I was in the army in Oudtshoorn and know the garden route fairly well. A beautiful place and you are correct about the weather.
We ran the Papillon Foundation for 17 years in Johannesburg and at tomorrow's date, we left Joburg 3 years ago to come and live here.

Blessings to you and have a !BEER

Oh yes, and they sat that global warming have become a reality.
We have the old Jacaranda trees now blooming in winter and they are in danger of dying as they normally bloom in the Spring season.
