A photo story here about some wild Baboons.

(Edited)

This little guy is the hero of the story.
292.jpg

We traveled over the mountain, and we stopped at a lookout spot at the top of the mountain.

So now the long weekend is over, and I don't know about you, but I think that time flies lately. Just yesterday was Friday and now it is Tuesday.
In any case this is a baboon story that I have captured on my camera. I have much to tell you about them.
So come and have a look.

As usual, the big boss sat in the top of a tree watching us as we arrived and I left my wife in the locked car, as Baboons can open car doors.
013.JPG

Our little hero dashed off, as he saw his little mate had fallen off the low wall.
174.JPG

He arrived to help his mate back up.
295.JPG

Yay! The smaller one was back up.
296.JPG

Have a look at their hands, and he looked to see as I applauded him :)
303.JPG

And then there was peace in their little world.
297.JPG

Now for another part of the story.

I think the caller at the top of the mountain saw a whale and he signaled for the tribe to come and see.
108.JPG

This one at the bottom called the youngsters to go and see.
212.JPG

The one at the left sat watching the ocean and the one at the right was watching if the youngsters were coming.
262.JPG

As you can see from the lookout spot, the ocean flows around behind the right hand side of the mountain. Behind that rock that the caller was sitting on.
118.JPG

The youngsters rushed off towards the caller's position.
166.JPG

With the adults following behind them. And then all of the baboons were gone from our lookout spot.
161.JPG

Now, don't run away as there was something else.

This guy sat in his car waiting until all of the baboons were gone. It is not safe with the baboons around. I think that he wanted his Macaw parrot to have a look at the view.
242.JPG

And yes, it is indeed a lovely view of our town from the lookout spot high up on the mountain.
126.JPG

We don't come here often enough, but I can tell you that it is a wonderful place. On a clear day one can see for miles around, but of course, one has to watch out for the winds, as when the South-easter screams at high velocity over this mountain, nothing is safe. The wonder is that the baboons know about this wind, and they hide in the big boulders. I suppose that if we had to live up here, then we would do the same.

So no, baboons are not stupid, and they even have advanced communication systems in nature. No What's Apps or any other devices, but when that old baboon lets out a scream, it will chill your spine. They have long teeth that can kill another animal, or a human in an instant and yet they even have some human qualities, as you saw that little one helping the smaller one.

Baboons can also stone humans. Have a look at this.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11853039/Three-hikers-legs-broken-BABOONS-push-130lb-boulder-cliff.html

Nature has always been there, and mankind has learned a lot from the wisdom and surprises in nature.
I am very careful of the big boss, and I think that he knows that I respect him.
It is up to all of us to keep nature in a pristine condition, as no nature, will result in no life.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

And That's All Friends.

I have heard stories of man eating baboons, but they look so cute - I mean the little guys because the look of the boss looks quite scary 😏

I love the images and the story about the little guys helping each other is lovely too 😊

Oh wow, what a view - here you have to climb high up on a mountain to have such a view and with a little bit of imagnation you can even see the sea from here 😀

Yeah, the big males can be very dangerous when encountered and that's why I am also wary of that big guy 😊

I hoped that the care of the little guy would send a message out, that if the animals can do it, then what's wrong with many of us 😟

I am happy that you enjoyed the view my friend and I know your imagination powers. You can so easily imagine that you see the sea with a big boat on it filled with young ladies that are calling you 🤣🤣🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, you never know if a wrong move might disappoint the guy.

Animals are mostly more humanly than the humans.

Haha, when you're high enough and the weather is right you really can see a few hundred kilometres and sometimes it looks like the sea, honestly 😎 and maybe you could also see a big ship, but you could never hear the ladies calling at such a huge distance 🤣 !LOLZ

No moves when he is around my friend as I stand like a statue when he is close 😉

Yes, I have seen that many times. A person can faint in the street and all of the people will just continue to walk past, with no one caring enough to help the person. So sad.

A mirage is what they call it and people also see this in the desert. No need for the ladies to call as if a few of them are naked, then I can imagine a mountain goat racing off in his beloved van to get to the nonexistent boat 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Oh yes, I think I would do the same - maybe I wouldn't even get out of the car 🤣 !LOLZ

It always depends on the situation, I think, but it's sad that most people don't care anymore, that's right.

Haha, you might be right, my friend 😎

So right, as I had those experiences during my working days, the only bonus that I have never had, was to sleep at work, as that would have made the time to go faster 😁 !LOLZ

I think I have often told you that paid sleep at work is the best sleep ... and when you wake up a few hours have gone by 😅 !LOLZ

Yes, we have discussed it a few times and if you add all of the hours of paid sleep in a year, and add it to your normal sleep, you might be amazed when you find that you have slept for a quarter of the year. So, 4 quarters of 4 years means that you have cut a year in sleep from your retirement date 😮😴😃 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Maybe I can tell my boss that I'll work for the next 3 years without sleeping and then sleep the last year till I retire 🤣 !LOLZ

A good idea, but if I was your boss, I would tell you that during the 3 years that you work, you have to work with no salary, to pay him for all of the other years that you slept in. So you would walk out on retirement without a state pension 😢 !LOLZ

For a few years now we were talking about hive mooning. If it doesn't happen in the next 10 years, then you will also like the old guys here, have to stand at a traffic light with a tin in your hand and a board hanging on your chest with a begging story on the board 😜 !LOLZ

You never know what the future has planned for you, but thanks, I hope it will never happen because I am not as prepared as you might think 😊 in my younger years I have invested too much money in alcohol and cigarettes 😂 !LOLZ

I have already got the money back that I have invested and it helped buying my van, so the Hive in my wallet are my profit 😁

Reminds me of a song "Sunday morning coming down" by Kris Kristofferson. You are so right, as we do indeed never know what the future holds in store for us. I am slowly discovering this every year now as I get older and there's nothing nice and rosy about it 😢 !LOLZ

When you get older you become wiser and calmer and more frugal, you take life easier ... that's what I think and hope for me, but all I feel are my bones every morning 🤣 !LOLZ

You wrote something that something is not safe with Baboons around. Well, I went to the zoo something ago and I saw a Baboon which means that it is a wild animal. But the Baboon was playing with me on that day. Do Baboons hurt people?

Wild animals are called wild because they live free out in the wild. A caged animal is no longer wild and so I don't like or visit zoo's.
@barski , a friend said there is a saying that if you put your finger in a baboon's mouth, you will leave it there.
Baboons have indeed killed some people.

I came up with this when I saw a documentary video of how an embittered buboin attacked tourists and bit off one of their fingers, it was scary, the beast is strong, although not tall, and the jaws are scarier than those of a dog, so this "folk wisdom" was born :)

By the way, interestingly, you just came up with a new illusory term "your something" ... if they tell you to feed something to a booboon, say that you have your own "something" and you will not give it to the buboon , or someone else, he should have "his something", but the path does not even look at "my something" :)

Pretty neat post, being able to experience the baboons in the wild has to be breathtaking. Great pics, many of them displaying how they care for each other.

Locking Marian in the car was a good idea, but I would expect that if you encountered any problems she would have been at your side giving the baboons a piece of her mind. They would be running away with their tail between their legs.

I asked Marian to read this and she had a good laugh. She said that you should earn a medal for knowing women so well. So I told her that it is your lady that should get the medal for training you so well !LOL
