A strange sunset.
I will show you how it started, and I had no idea what we would see later at home.

We were traveling on our way back home and I took some shots on the way.
The skies have become tricky lately, and I suppose that it has to do with that El Nino guy, as they reckon that Africa is bound to be "gifted" with a major share of the consequences resulting from its arrival.
But what is the El Nino system? Let's ask Mrs. Wikipedia to explain it to us.
El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is a global climate phenomenon that emerges from variation in winds and sea surface temperatures over the tropical Pacific Ocean. Those variations have an irregular pattern but do have some appearance of cycles. The occurrence of ENSO is not easily predictable. It affects the climate of much of the tropics and subtropics and has links (teleconnections) to higher-latitude regions of the world. The warming phase of the sea surface temperature is known as "El Niño" and the cooling phase as "La Niña". The Southern Oscillation is the accompanying atmospheric oscillation, which is coupled with the sea temperature change.
Have a look at the source link, as your country might also be mentioned about the El Nino effects.
I saw that top cloud above the sea, and for some reason I kept my eye on it (3 shots below).
This shot below was the view of that cloud when we arrived at home.
And then later, after supper, I stepped outside into the front garden to see what things looked like, and just as well that I did, or else I would have missed what you are about to see in the shots below.
Huh! What was this? Have you ever seen a cloud like this?
Ah! The clouds in the shots above dropped down and look how they were transformed into lovely colors (4 shots).
Bah! Then it was all gone, and the show was over.
El Nino is the Spanish name for "The Boy", and I had a feeling that it was something like that, as I called it "A guy" in some of my other posts. The Wikipedia source link above in the citation also explains the history of the name, and it also has an intense investigation about the danger of the El Nino effects that occur all over the world. I was shocked about the millions of people that were killed by the El Nino weather system over the ages, and the fear is that the scientists reckon that the 2026 one will be the worst on record.
We can already see the beginning of El Nino in the damages across the world with extra strength floods, fires, drought, and all such. Another big problem is that food crops are wiped out, and it's a surety that food security will be affected negatively in many countries. There will always be nay-sayers, like those that don't believe in global warming by the damages to the ozone layer, and I wonder what they will say about the oceans warming due to the El Nino effect.
Such is life.
Now this is not a doomsday post, as I only wanted to alert everyone that reads the story in this post to be on their guard.

What a show, @papilloncharity! 🌅
To answer your question: no, I've never seen a cloud like this! From our hills in Cagli we get beautiful sunsets, but one that drops down and lights up with those colours, then vanishes in a few minutes, is truly special. You were lucky to be in the garden at the right moment with your camera ready. 📷✨
As a farmer, I also understand your concern about El Niño. Here in Italy, too, the seasons are less and less predictable: heavy rain all at once, then long droughts, and the crops suffer. Staying alert without panicking, as you say, is the right approach. 🌱🌍

Che spettacolo, @papilloncharity! 🌅

Thank you, and I believe in the saying being in the right place at the right time, as it happens often to me.
It is very much the farmers here that we worry about, here in South Africa, as the El Nino, is slowly turning things upside down. Although we have many grape, and apple farms here, we also have canola and wheat farms, and we live in a water scarce country. As it is currently, we had very minimal winter rains, and the dam levels will continue to drop now that the summer season has started.
I see that you have recently joined Hive, and I hope that you will stay for the long term.
Thank you for sharing that, @papilloncharity — water scarcity and unpredictable rains are such a real worry for farmers everywhere, and it sounds especially tough with grape, apple, canola and wheat all depending on a good winter. We hope the dam levels hold up better than expected this season. And yes, we're very happy to be here on Hive for the long term!
Thank you also, and we have little hope for summer rains, as we are in a winter rainfall season. We are now heading into the summer season.
Glad that you are here on Hive for the duration, and hope that your growth will not be as tough as mine was on a 60 Rep 7 years ago :)
Thank you for sharing that — it’s humbling to hear how much farmers are already navigating with El Niño over there. We feel it here too, just in different ways; the climate keeps teaching us to stay flexible. Wishing your vines and apples a kinder season ahead 🍇🌾
