A wonderful surprise.

I stood and faced in the opposite direction, taking a photo of a hungry and screaming young raptor bird on a roof, and when I turned around, I saw this beauty.

It was indeed a lovely and beautiful surprise that made me feel so happy.

Of course, this was not all to see as the skies played out like I was in a movie house later on. The rainbow and the rolling clouds came in from the eastern side over the mountains and the sun was busy setting on the western side over the ocean. I wanted so much to get on the roof to get a shot of the rainbow above the mountains, but I could not dodge my wife, as she would scream blue murder if I touched the step ladder :)

This was the young raptor bird, a Harrier Hawk that I was focused on before I turned around to see the rainbow.

So, I took you on a series of sky shots journey to show you the lovely process of nightfall in our area. Similar to life, some days are drab and other days are lovely. Today was a great experience, especially with that unannounced rainbow appearance and also the colors in the sky.
Life has many surprises and it often catches us offside with both good and bad events, but we learn to appreciate the good ones, as they balance out the bad ones. It's a process that we all have to go through as the sky in here today so clearly demonstrates to us.

I think about the rainy days as the bad days in our lives, and the storms remind me of the intensity of the bad.
Then the beautiful days remind me about all of the happy days when everything turns our great. Then a rainbow reminds me about those very special days. Just my way of looking at things.
And now, the time has arrived for a powercut, and I am out of here!

Perfect moments…
That’s a shame, here clear blue skies… with snowy mountains and the sun ☀️
Such a pretty sight. But from tomorrow clouds and more snow until mid next week.
So could be interesting.
Hubby has a business trip lined up next week. 2 times, yesterday and today are parts of the flights cancelled already so he had to juggle to get other flights. It’s the last bit up here, both times.

Yep, the snowy mountains with clear blue skies are a wonderful sight, as a friend in Austria often shows me their snow pictures.
By the last bit up here, I take it to mean that he will not have to do any more flights after this?

I don't mind the dark clouds as today was all gray with occasional fairy rain 😊

Yes, Austria will have the same beautiful snowy Mountain View’s.
The first flight out. And the last flight back is getting cancelled. So far the new flights in stead are looking good. Hope the weather holds. As the highlands (last part up here) can get bad weather.

I know what you mean. Dark weather can give beautiful moody photographs. One of my favourites 😎

Lovely photos indeed Jackie and I hope that the new flights will be successful.
At least we had some sun again today between the white clouds and we took a drive through some of the town's suburbs to see if there were any small houses with views up for sale. Nothing found as only mansions in there.

Friday is done and it wasn't bad except for the power cuts.

Thank you so much, it looks like a go. The 2 flights are spaced over 2 days now on both sides. So 2 extra nights for him away.
That’s nice you took a drive up there to have a look. Always good to orientate. Who knows you might stumble upon something special. 😉

It’s getting busy again as so much to arrange and organise. But we went out today for a drive and saw beautiful snowy mountains and frozen lakes.

We also have a hope to stumble upon something, as then we will know that it was meant for us. I don't like to work through agents, as we rather do our own thing.
I can imagine how busy it will be, as you have now to repeat the entire process.

He is on his way back. Done the flight today. Tomorrow the last stretch. So he will be home very soon 😊

I’m trying to get a rental sorted in our next country from afar. There is a housing crisis going in. It’s tough… hope I find something. Talking to an owner now. She will be picking between us and another couple. We are afar, the other couple just requested another viewing… so let’s 🍀🍀🍀

It’s just crazy. But again one step closer to settling down hahaha 🤣

No problem as I am usually the one that's far behind with all of these power cuts.

Glad to see that it's almost done and that he will be home soon.
Amazingly you are in the same boat as us, as we are also struggling to find an ideal spot.
It's going to be tough for you guys, if the owner has another couple close by, but one never knows, as they might not like something and then you guys will stand a chance. So let's hope!

Guess what… we got the house 🎉🎉🎉
Signed the rental contracts, payed deposit 😎 and rent starts 1 April… even though it’s a month before we arrive… in a country with a housing crisis, it’s hard to get anything at the moment. So needed to do it this way. We are so happy.
We rented it unseen… just from photos and a few little videos. We had this morning an 1 hour video call with the owner.
It was great. So we have a place to go to next in May.

Lovely the sun came out. We did have a hike this afternoon… will post about it soon 👋🏻😊

Yes, things are a bit wonky for me these days and it's amazing how time flies. In my younger days, I could spend a few days without sleep, but these days my heart starts to play basketball in my chest if I don't get enough sleep 😜
I cannot blame you for not sleeping well lately, as you have so many things on your plate. But remember to knock them off one, by one and surely you will sleep like a baby again 😴

Life should be lived, but so many get trapped in a staid existence. On next week Thursday, I will be 1 year away from my 70th birthday and I am still happy with all that I have done in my life.

And these clouds are also well worth a big WOW 👍

It's an interesting idea to look at the rainy and the nice day that way - so I have been quite wet sometimes in the past 😉

Double rainbow is double rainbow, and yours is great 😀
A full double rainbow is very seldom and I can't remember to have seen one in the past years, but of course if I would see a scene like yours I would also wait until both rainbws are full.

Yep, I can understand that - sitting with wet clothes in a car isn't what I like either 😅

Yep, you are right Hannes, but I have seen a full double rainbow 4 years ago when we still lived on the apple farm. Maybe I have posted it, as I can't remember. So I will wait until I can see one again 😉

It's hard here to see a full rainbow because we are living between mountains, as you know, but sometimes when you're high up or further in the north, where the land is more flat, you can see them. Double rainbows are very rare though.

There are also two towels in my van - an orange and a gray one 🤣 !LOLZ

I loved rhat rainbow. So much that it tugged at my heartstrings. And yes, life can come with surprises. I just hope we are prepared for them alor at least, able to take them in stride.

Such an amazing view. I don't know if to feel jealous that you were able to witness and capture such wondrous sights but since you were so thoughtful enough to share, I guess I should let you off the hook. I loved the rainbow but I loved those majestic clouds more. Simply ethreal.🥹🥰💜
