Amazing unnatural cloud actions.
As the cloud arrived from the north on the mountain, the winds from the ocean grabbed it and spun it.
You just have to watch this series of shots.
Ever seen a spinning cloud in the sky before?
A real amazing event and the scene played like a movie before my eyes.
So obviously I followed the moves of the spinning cloud with my camera, as it was a first time for me to see this,
Something else also happened.
The spinning cloud grew bigger and I wondered if it would explode.
But no, the top of cloud spun off in long lines that wind from the north grabbed and passed it back to cross the lines that were spinning off.
Slowly but surely the layers were peeling off from the spinning cloud.
The lines spun off until the spinning cloud disappeared.
And then the spinning cloud was no more, finished and kaput.
As I said, it was a first for me as I have never seen anything like this before and only afterwards I realized that I should have made a video of this amazing action. Who would ever have thought that opposing winds could spin a cloud like a top and then take the string of cloud lines off it?
For those that do not know what a top is have a look here.

We call them UFO clouds and I am told that it is the deep cuts and valleys in the mountain peaks that create the whirls. So yes, there are sharks in the sky.

Twister onto top looks alien, very attractive swirling effect, nature showing us we cannot compete!

Nothing can compete with nature my friend. We call those clouds UFO clouds and it's the crevices in the rocks that cauese the upwinds to twirl the clouds.
We had a solid cloud this morning that exploded into long fingers all over the sky.

Woah! That's a bit disturbing. Did it look like it was actually moving? Great shots @papilloncharity. Those mountains bring back memories of our monthly trips to Cape Town.....way back when
Thank you my friend and oh yes it was moving. The winds fly upwards through the deep variety of the cracks in the mountain peak's rocks and twists the winds. We call them UFO clouds.
Glad that you have memories of these mountains.
Hope that you guys will have a good Sunday.

That is a very appropriate name for them Zac!
Someone here told me the clouds are called "lenticulus" and the person that gave them that name desribes them as looking like lentils?
Maybe he was drinking when he gave the clouds that name 😜

Amazing shots! This kind of cloud is called a lenticular, I guess because they look kind of like lentils. They're formed because of swirling currents of air, usually over mountain tops. I didn't know they could "unravel" like that, though. So fascinating! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it is indeed the deep cracks in the mountain tops that confuse the winds hahaha.
We call them UFO clouds and thank you for the tip that they are called Lenticulars.
It was indeed a lovely sight and I knew that there was something special about this one, as it was not the usual flying saucer or space ship shape.
