Ambushed by Donkeys.

My camera was ambushed as the last thing that we expected was a family of donkeys.

We took a far walk around this lake today and I was happily surprised to get a trove of different subjects on my camera.

Over the next few days, I will show you posts of many types of birds and animals. The lake is at the old ammunition manufacturing premises, that has now been opened to the public and it is a very busy lake.
So come and walk with us.

The matriarch couple stood watching over their children, and they were keeping an eye on us.

Two lovely landscape shots here for you.

The egret was considering a ride on the young donkey.

Finally, this is the reason why we came here. Flamingos!
I will show you the beautiful flamingos in a post tomorrow.

We saw cattle and even two Springboks on our walk and quite a few different bird species. Of course, the flamingos were my main focus and they were indeed the stars of the show.
I have a very bad knee that is affecting the distances that I walk lately, but the knee didn't stop me from walking the 1 kilometer distance around the lake.
At times we have to sacrifice in order to please our wants, and today was such a day.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

And That's All Friends.

Oh, so these donkeys are wild, not domesticated?

I don't know if they are wild, as there are farms here and somebody has to own them methinks.
