And there she was.

Sitting in the parking lot a movie star was waiting for my camera.
The only thing that I didn't like about her, was the modern wheels, but I suppose that it's a mission to find the original wire spoked wheels.

One can probably fit 3 of the small modern cars into the size of this babe.

This is a Continental Coupe with a powerful V8 engine from the Ford Motor Company's Lincoln Division. I do not know the exact year of this particular car's manufacture, but I estimate it to fall into the late 60s, or early 70s.

The Continental Mark III is a personal luxury car marketed by Lincoln from 1969–1971 model years. The namesake successor of the 1956–1957 Continental Mark II, the Mark III again served as the flagship vehicle of Ford Motor Company. Offered as a two-door hardtop coupe, the Mark III was noted for its hidden headlights, rear spare-tire trunk bulge recalling the Mark II and its Rolls-Royce styled grille.
The Mark III was developed as a direct competitor to the Cadillac Eldorado, creating a three-decade market rivalry between the Continental Mark series and the Eldorado.

I took the photos of the car on the day that we went out to have a look at some UFO clouds on the mountains and if you are into UFO clouds, then you can see them in my recent post HERE

A fuller photo of this one below is placed at the end of this post.

Check out the quality interior of this car.

Standard equipment included power steering, brakes, windows, vacuum-activated concealed headlamps, and [CORRECT NAME IS: Twin Comfort Lounge Seats with 2-way power standard and 6-way power with or without the optional passenger seat recliner option.] split bench electrically adjustable front seats. The instrument panel and trim panels on the doors featured simulated wood appliques in either English Oak or East-Indian Rosewood for 1969 models. For 1970–71 models, genuine walnut was used for the interior wood accents. After a few months, a Cartier-branded clock became standard equipment. The upholstery was either the standard vinyl with cloth inserts or the optional leather [and over the years, both low back and high back front seats were available.]

Several celebrities like Elvis Presley, Glen Campbell and James Brown owned a Continental Mark III and the car also starred in many movies, most notably the one that I have seen; The Italian Job.
You can see the movie titles in the Source

Finally, here's a full version of the second photo.

One can never know what one can encounter on a foray out on the farms and I have found many exceptional items for my camera to share with you over the years. I am mainly a nature man when I am out there, but when I find something exceptional, then I don't hesitate to share it. We are fortunate to have abundant landscapes, wildlife, fauna and flora and all else here, plus of course the mountains and the sea. But every now and then something manmade, like sculptures, art or classic cars will grab my attention.
It also helps me to keep my posts interesting, as the same old, same old becomes a tedious affair. In fact, we are popping out again in 30 minutes time and let's hope that I can find something great to show you.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

And That's All Friends.

The Americans built some crazy cars. I expect it would cost a lot to run now. Cars like that look odd on UK roads as they take up so much space.

Hotels on wheels, they were called here Steve. We could fit 12 in a Galaxy during our army days.
If one has to use that car every day nowadays, one will have to have some millions in the bank as these cars are very thirsty.
We have wide roads here and you are right, as it's going to be a battle to negotiate the UK roads in a ship like this.

We had a US base near here and they could ship their cars over, so we did see some. I think some stayed after they left. Plenty of fans of Americana here.

Oh, they shipped those cars all over, even to the dealers here in South Africa and Cuba is still using those cars on a daily basis. Maybe you guys also have some classic car shows over there?

There are loads of car shows here. All sorts from the really early stuff through the customs to the latest hot hatches. Brits do love their cars.

That was a tease Steve, as my daughter lives in the UK and she told me that the car shows over there always reminded her of me !LOL
I was now going to say that I think that the Brits even made one or two cars of their own :)

I'll post some pictures for you if I go to one. Actually I saw an early Ford Capri on my run today, but had no chance to get a pic

That will be appreciated. Amazing how one can see nice things so often, totally unprepared to take a photo. It happens so often also to me.

Ahh that would be a sweet ride to cruise down the boulevard! Your camera always seems to find new and unusual things to bring here for us to see :D !LUV

Petrol bill running this beaut must be pretty steep, she is sleek with a boot big enough to be a pull-out caravan!

Chrome, heavy body she would sail open roads like a queen on jello, have not seen one of these in many years, good find!

Cold coming back to visit you again, not sure what round you on now, been some knock-out rounds this winter, no kidding.... We last had cold like this over 10 years ago, we must be forgetting what winters can be like of late.

Eish, eish and so many more eishes if I ever have to drive a car like that everyday Lady Joan.
The biggest eish will come when I stop at a pump and I see a month's salary being drunk by the car's tank to fill it up. Hotel on wheels !LOLZ

With that throbbing V8 baying to open her up and the instant response when one floors the pedal, it is a sheer joy to feel the surge of her power. Glad that I saw her and it brought back many memories.

Everyone is talking about the 10 years ago times, even the weatherman and lately one just doesn't know what's next. We are on Level 4 and it's cold nights under warm blankets all the time.
I saw that some snow was also headed your way again, and I wonder what August is going to bring.

Big old cars would cruise the highways, not really meant for speeding more for comfort. Paying the price of petrol today would be an eye opener.

We have had KZN passes closed in September/October due to snow 2008 to 2012 a couple of times.

Nothing alarming about cyclical weather historically happened for years, prior alarmists screaming about this being a human induced problem. !LOLZ

Oh yeah, the bigger the better for the self important souls !LOL

And now it looks like it will happen again this year.

Global warming must be treated with gloves, as so much FUD is spread about.

Feathers to me means hay fever and such a pity, as it never affected me as a child.

Strange life, I do agree cleaning up human waste in plastics etc., as for the weather change it is larger than us, Mother nature will do as she pleases, scientific records over hundreds of years tells us so.

Well sneeze let it all out !LOLZ

We were discussing the weather patterns again today and I agree that history plays a major role in determining what's going on now. Somehow, someone has a hidden motive, maybe focused on the one world order to get every country involved.
The recent G20 meeting about eliminating harmful toxic gasses ended in a damp squib, as some countries stated that they might only reach the target still far away in the future. The oil companies also put up a fight.

Nope, no feathers, no sneezes !LOLZ

Those rims look gross on that car indeed. Is this a dual 8 track cartridge player?
Great find!
