Bad news, strong winds flared the fires.

Imagine waking up to an evacuation call. Get out, get out immediately!
021.jpg

It is day 4 now of the fire and overnight very strong winds arrived.

So evacuations of people and horses are taking place in the danger areas. The fire started in pine forests on the the mountain range on Wednesday and last night the flames leapt over driven by the new wind, to another mountain here. The area is covered with farms and posh residential areas on the lower slopes of the mountain.
So, of course I was out with the camera.

This below is one of the residential areas.

Some of the shots look like sunset pictures, but they were all taken this morning.

All of the entrance roads to the mountain were blocked for traffic and I found this road to walk up in order to get a better view of the mountain.

Got 2 great shots here below.

No helicopters could go up because the winds were too strong and a few times I was almost blown off my feet. Marian stayed in the car for safety's sake and the smoke smell was very overpowering.
The Helicopters will soon be up as the wind have simmered down, but unfortunately I have to go to a meeting and so no more photos until later.

I will show you one of my chopper shots here that I took at a fire in 2018.

Fire at the mountains 2. 18 February 2019.jpg

News on the radio now, is that the fire is still out of control and we applaud our brave fire fighters that are doing their best.

Pray with us that no life will be lost.

And That's All Friends.

My prayers are with your area, and that no lives will be lost. Sadly, I know many animals have already died 😢

Thank you again for the prayers, as it is desperately needed.
Yes, the slower animals die a horrible death.

I so hope it gets under control soon. Wildfires are so unpredictable and you are the mercy of the winds.
Absolute corker of a double chopper shot though!
Stay safe over there please!

We are praying that all life will be spared my friend, as that new strong wind has upset it all.
Glad that you like the chopper shot and none of them are up now, as the wind is too strong. A breakthrough might appear as we are expecting rain soon.

Thank you for the care.

Second capture across mountain with halo effect is stunning, although deadly fire rages beneath a little beauty in everything.

Cape fires have become extreme over the last couple of years, thinking of all in the path, thanking our fire-fighters who are highly trained and proficient in what they do to protect our country.

Thank you Lady Joan, oh yes, scary but also beautiful.

They work through the nights here and today with that terrible mountain wind they had no air assistance, as the wind is too strong for the choppers to fly. But they are brave and highly skilled souls.

If I had to live op there, I would also have a wide clearance around my house like this one.

Thank you kindly for the tipu my friend.

Good fire break to save the home, obviously have lived there some time to realize dangers.

Have a wonderful day and send regards to family, cold and wet should be arriving sometime today.

Yep, indeed an old hand at the fire tricks. He knows that the wind can blow the sparks to light the tree tops, such as I saw the wind lighting this section from the top of the trees.

Cold and wet not yet my friend, but the signs are good and we are waiting.

Blessings and our best wishes also to you and the family.

Edit: Wonderful, as the rain has started as I posted this reply. So happy now!!!

Yup rains arrived, mentioned in earlier reply.

Keep off the roads if possible expecting a lot of rain to fall, definitely a wash out once again!

Oh yes, I heard on the radio that the South African habit is in full swing as there are accidents all over the the country.
Abundance in nature of tremendous proportions. Our fault.

Driving is hair raising, theft of cables for electricity killing more, paraffin stoves with township fires once again during winter, sorry state of affairs.

Bleak outlook from top to bottom and everything in between!

so many dangers to face and now for the flooding here.

Bleak is the right word and it will not get better soon.

Thank you kindly and thankfully no human lives lost thus far, but it is the slower little animals that we are worried about.

that is exactly the colour of a malady, as I see it.

Its really nauseating; hope the services can handle this rather sooner than later. By the way, in Russia, in many regions, theres going the same shit - as the @rut-ru commented me (she is located in Siberia), even hiking to the forests is prohibited (!) -- so that an accidental fire will not provoke untamable firestorm in an over-dried pine forest, full of resin and moss ...

nothing but !LUV

Oh yes, you are a right about a malady, but thankfully the rain clouds are starting to gather now.

I would imagine that the pone forests in Russia will go off like a bomb if a spark lands in them.
So Russia was right in banning hiking there as an accidental fire can create havoc. Resin loves to burn and splatter sparks, which is bad news for tinder dry forests.

!LUV right back at ya!

That looks really scary Zac! Especially knowing how strong those Cape winds are! We had the mudslides caused by continuous rain and now you're facing the fire driven by the wind! All strong forces of nature and there's not much one can do when it gets overpowering except to evacuate! Praying for rain so fires can be stopped.
Your photography is simply stunning!
I hope you and Marian are keeping well.

Thank you milady and when I say scary then watch the photos in this interview.

Your landslides were the worst that I have ever seen and I think that Mother nature is very angry, as we just heard that a volcano has erupted in the Philippines.
So it is worldwide and it's only the beginning.

Thank you for the prayers and the rain clouds have started to gather here now. Still very strong winds and we hope that the rain will start tonight.

Thank you for the kind compliment.

We are well and hope that you guys are the same.

It looks so scary, I can't help but think of the wildlife as well! How far is it from your house?
I hope & pray that the rain has started!
Yes, I agree, Mother Nature is very angry indeed, but mankind has not respected it so now we have to pay. Very sad!
We're both well here, we still find ourselves at times having fleeting moments thinking that Mom is here, it's really odd, but it must be because she lived with us for such a long time.
I feel at peace though as I know she is in a much better place than we could ever imagine. I will never forget your call that day, it really felt like a message from heaven🙏🏻
Much love to you & Marian, stay safe & be careful🤗

Thank you Lady Lizzie and it is about 6 kilometers away from us. Luckily no damages here, but the high lying suburbs have suffered.
The rain arrived last night and it hasn't stopped since. No more fires thank God.
Major problems with the weather systems worldwide and at first we had to worry about the fires and now one day later, we have to worry about flooding.
Such a big loss will stay with you guys for a very long time, if not forever, but gradually it becomes easier to bear, especially as you say that she is now in a much better place.
My call was only to support my friend and I thank the Spirit for telling me to call.

Much love also to you guys!
