Dreamy pictures of the mountains.

The atmosphere was slowly preparing itself for some overnight rain.

I don't know about you, but I always get a thrill when I see the sights that are conjured up by our mountain range.

So, I keep an eye on the weather, and during some tough conditions, the place for me to be is with my camera in hand at the mountains. Today the mountain sights had a dreamy effect in my mind. It told me of long days gone by, before the time of mankind's arrival with its cars and developments, when the elephants and the lions roamed freely all over this land. Big herds of wild buck were grazing in the grass fields, and clouds of flamingos were flying around. Birdsong of a thousand different species rang out across the skies and trout fish danced in the rivers. Rainbows were plenty and the sunny skies sang their own warm song.
A time long ago.

Of course, now it's all gone. The wild buck herds are no more and there are no elephants and lions here anymore. We still have an occasional mountain leopard, but the rest of it is all gone. Replaced now by towns and farms, and mankind's normal activities in the lifelong struggle for survival continues every day. To me personally, this is not how life was originally designed to be, and mammon has slowly over time eroded peace and tranquility. We end up longing for rest and peace that no money can buy, but at the end life simply spits us out. A return of respect for the self and all others should be one of the priorities, but not to be, as there is no profit in it.

Those mountains can leave your jaw open every time you see them right!

The magnificence just doesn't grow smaller at all!

Absolutely! This is the old Hottentots-Holland mountain range, and it regularly changes its appearances depending on the light and the weather.

The stoic strength of the mountains in this area is what inspires me in my life.

Yep! I love the mountains and that's why I always go out there to see them.
Our winter starts in May-June and we are also in a winter raining season.
