Here is the real deal.

See how a scrap car was transformed into a real hot beauty.
076.jpg

It is a 1932 Chevrolet Roadster that was given a new life by the restorer that we visited at his workshop yesterday.
The car was left out in the open on a farm to slowly rust away and by the time that he bought it the car was only a shell.
So he gradually rebuilt the car into the showpiece that it is today.

The pictures down the left show what the car looked like when he bought it. And the pictures down the right show the restoration build.
072.jpg

Now just have a look at this imposing face.
088_2_li.jpg

How would you like to go and visit your girlfriend in a car like this?
084_2_li.jpg

077.jpg

091.jpg

So one would think that when an old car like this stops next to you at a traffic light and the driver gives you a racing signal in your sportscar, that he was mad.
But you will get the fright of your life as this old baby lifts her front up at a screeching pull off with smoke coming off the broad real wheel tires.

That 260km gauge on the speedo is no joke.
094.jpg

Up above under the roof you can see the other gauges and the guy said that he kept the design as simple as possible.
092.jpg

Just look at that chevvy gear stick and I love this car as I like simplicity.
095.jpg

Just a final look at this lovely car.
087_li.jpg

We took the motor hood off to show the car's real character and who would think that an old 1932 car could ever get a new life like this. The car was at his home and we proceeded to his workshop on the farm where he showed me other old cars that took my breath away.

Can you believe that he was given a lift in this other old car when he was 6 years old and he bought the same car like this when he turned 40 years old.
I will tell you the story in another post.
125.jpg

I think that restoration is a wonderful hobby and my full time hobby is charity work. In a way we also do restoration of a human kind.
So to each his own, but this doesn't stop us from admiring the efforts of others.

And That's All Friends!

Agreed and it was so great to see that guy's handiwork.
That's why I always dig in an old car's history but that is only 10% of the story.

I wish I had kept my old Chevy Nova from when I was 17. A decent 1977 Nova is worth some bucks today!

Oh yes, I wonder how many times I have regretted making the wrong decisions in the past.
But then again, such is life and I bet that you would have scored a neat packet it you sold it today.
Certainly thousands.

Good evening Hannes,

Been a scorcher here today as you will see in my birds post today. They reckon tomorrow we will be at 38C with the South Easter wind blowing at 80 kph.

Yes he is certainly a talented guy and I will do a post when he arrives here to pick me up for a drive in that old baby.

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

hm, our highest temperatures today have been about -2 C and I think I prefer our temperatures, even if it would be windy.

I'm looking forward to that post 😀

Good evening Hannes,

We hit a max today of 37C and I am drinking many bottle of cold fridge water.
-2C sounds like heaven to me right now 🤣 !LOLZ

What post are you talking about?

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

I don't think you have ever been in such low temperatures, Zac, or have you been inside a cold room? -2C is still nice, but it's getting colder the next days, says the forecast. In New Bedford, where JJ lives, they had -15C these days - that's brrrr cold ❄️

You said "Yes he is certainly a talented guy and I will do a post when he arrives here to pick me up for a drive in that old baby." - this post 😂 !LOLZ

Oh yes, and if you can remember we worked on the ammonia gas compressors at some cold meat manufacturers. We had to wear special overalls inside the cold rooms at temps of -32C.

But in saying this -15C outside must be freezing. We never drop below zero here.
Obviously they can switch their fridges off to save on the electricity costs 🤣

Ah yes, thank you now I remember and when he does I will tag you in the post 😉

Cheers and thanks.
We can also bake eggs in the garden on a rock in this heat.

Yep, I think I remember that you have told me about that job.

In winter we can cool may things on the balcony, that's right, but we can't bake eggs on rocks in summer, that would be cool too 😀 !LOLZ

A long time ago and your memory is still good 😉 !LOLZ

Nope our winters never get that cold unfortunately and my daughter has just told me that they had some snow in the UK. Pity that your summers never get really hot, but who knows, as with all of this funny weather, you guys might also become hotter.

Cheers and thanks.

Well, you reminded me and I found the drawer in my brain 🤣 !LOLZ

Oh yes, it snowed in the UK too. I have seen some videos from photographers.
Hm, to us the Summers are quite hot and if it gets hotter we might move more towards the north pole 😁

A great luck as the runners of the drawers in my mind are all rusted and it is very difficult to open them 😊

Now here's the thing, they say that the north pole is melting and soon the south pole will turn into a desert. So maybe a move to China could be an option 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Oh yes, some are even so rusty that they don't work anymoer, but some things should stay in there anyway 😂 !LOLZ

Oh yes, let's move to China - I will be a big man and you a giant 😉

Well we must just hope that they don't start falling apart and everything falls out, as then we will both be in big trouble 🤣 !LOLZ

Hahaha, no ways will I move with you to Chana mate, they make clothes and shoes for small people and I will have to walk bare foot and naked under a blanket every day 🤣
So you will be the big man over there capiche?

Cheers and thanks.

These drawers are made of good wood, I only hope that no wood worm was hungry, because then you might be right and we will be in big troubles.

We colourize the blanket to orange and you will be the largest monk of all 🤣 !LOLZ

Now that is exactly the big worry as we all carry some worms inside us my friend.
So let's hope that there aren't any that has a taste for wood 🤣

A monk sounds good as long as I can live in the mountains 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Haha, yes, let's hope they don't like wood 🤣

A Mountain Monk, but climbing with a blanket will not be easy, so you better stay on the easy tourist paths and I'll wait for you on the peak 😉

Well I think that as a monk I would have some transport.
4 guys to carry me around with poles on their shoulders as I sit on a pole stretcher 🤣

Oh yeah, as a young mountain goat you learned how to climb the peaks and now that you are older just be careful that you don't fall off the peak, as then you will have to hire my transport to carry you down 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Haha, such a kind of monk? I would rather have thought of a poor wandering monk 🤣 !LOLZ

Having said the above I now can't lend your transport anymore and have to call a taxi 🙂

Oh yes, they will make me a chief monk because I will teach them many new African tricks 🤣

Make sure that you have insurance when you call one of the millions of taxis over there, as I hear that all of the drivers take suicidal risks 😎

Cheers and thanks.
