Imagine if you had wings.

You would be able to fly like a bird over mountains and through valleys, to look at the beauty far below.

I had a great opportunity to get some birds playing and dancing in a strong wind.

So What would you do if you had wings?

They are Pied Crows (Corvus albus) and one of their many tricks is to play in high winds. We have bone rattling strong winds here in the Cape, and it causes damages all over the place. The birds are used to the winds and the doves and other smaller birds all fly at speed lower over the roof tops. One thing that they all have in common, is that they all fly counter to the direction of the wind, and just by watching the birds I know which direction the wind is coming from.

One of the collective nouns for crows is a "murder" of crows, and that came about during the 15th century.

As author Chloe Rhodes explains in "An Unkindness of Ravens: A Book of Collective Nouns", "Unlike Proverbs, rhymes, or homilies, many of these words endure because they were recorded and published in Books of Courtesy handbooks, designed to educate the nobility. They were created and perpetuated as a means of marking out the aristocracy from the less well-bred masses".
Paula Lester, of Country life, says the following about the names given for crows. "For instance, the number of dastardly sounding nouns for crows, such as murder, mob, and horde, probably come from medieval peasants' fears that the sinister-looking corvids had been sent by the devil or were witches in disguise".

Chloe Rhodes, cited by Paula Lester in country life in 2023 August 10.

And just to show you how the strong wind disturbed the hairstyles of some palm trees.

Finally, let's fly over the hills.

The great thing that I love about the strong winds, is that people stay indoors, and I look like a very lonely figure out there. But I am far from lonely and always enjoy the uncrowded times. The whispers of the wind in the pines keep me company at these times and during the lulls between gusts, the silence is complete.
Life they say is what we make of it, and we all have our own peculiarities, but if it works for you, then no need to change it in order to suit others. Unless of course if it's negative, as then it will require some form of correction.
We are all supposed to lead a happy and positive life, but with all that is going on around us every day, I wonder how many of us can truly say that they have a happy and positive life. Lately with all of the storms and wars, the outlook is very negative, but we simply have to remember that nothing lasts forever.

Blessings to all and I hope that you enjoyed the pictures.

The photos inspire the creation of haiku: "Birds on the background of clouds - splashes of ink on the white field of the sheet")))

😃If I were to have wings!?
I would fly, fly, fly! I would be anywhere I want to be without restrictions.

But is life really that easy for the winged creatures?

Thank you for your idea, and sadly the greatest enemy for the winged creatures are mankind.

If I had wings, I would fly all over the rockies on the tall mountain tops, get a bird's eye view of below.

That valley looks nice and that's a lot of birds in the one picture! Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like you have a great idea with your bird's eye view :)

We certainly have lots of birds here in South Africa, and those in the picture are all crows.
