It is now Autumn here in South Africa.

I will share some lovely fall colors with you and we are glad that spring is starting in the Northern Hemisphere.
027.JPG

The grape vines are turning yellow, and I saw some dust at the top right of the picture.

Some of our friends up north in the world had some terrible winter weather and I hope that this post will warm them up a bit. In any case their summer is on the way and soon all will be well again. We are fortunate to have a range of autumn colors all over the areas here and I decided to show you some of them today.
I have also included a bit of action in order to give the post a bit of life.
Come and see.

I zoomed and here below was the reason for the dust. A guy on a tractor was mowing the lawns.
047.JPG

Whenever there is work being done in or near the vines, the raptor birds, in this case a Harrier Hawk, come in to inspect the areas of activities for fleeing mice and rats.
026.JPG

Just a scene here to show you some ocean mist at the bottom of the mountain, as the wind was coming over from the west.
043.JPG

This line of Maple trees was switching over from yellow to lovely red colors.
021.JPG

This little one stopped in it's tracks when it saw me. A chance meeting and it quickly disappeared into the brush.
032.JPG

The green tree in the middle is now starting to wear a yellow hat.
017.JPG

A shot further out showed the variance in colors and soon that tree in the middle will be completely yellow. It will make a lovely picture methinks.
012.JPG

I will now show you the colors of some autumn flowers.

Please don't ask me for the names of the flowers, as I have no idea. Save to say that they are beautiful.
104.JPG

I know the butterfly as it is called a Cape Autumn Widow and now in autumn they are all over the place.
057.JPG

045.JPG

The leaf of this red flower had a very soft and silky feel to it.
108.JPG

A poem here for you;

The Belltower
by Diane di Prima

The weighing is done in autumn
and the sifting
what is to be threshed
is threshed in autumn
what is to be gathered is taken

the wind does not die in autumn
the moon
shifts endlessly thru flying clouds
in autumn the sea is high

and a golden light plays everywhere
making it harder
to go one's way

all leavetaking is in autumn
where there is leavetaking
it is always autumn
& the sun is a crystal ball
on a golden stand
& the wind
cannot make the spruce scream
loud enough.

Source

I think that the poem fits in well with the grape vines and I hope that you enjoyed the pictures.

And That's All Friends.

You took some really good photographs. I particularly like the one of Maple trees, the roses and the butterfly. You live in a really beautiful place.

It's a squirrel!! Funny enough I can't pronounce the name correctly in either English or Afrikaans 😂.

You took some great shots of the flowers 🌺🌹. And the poem was perfect 👌

Beautiful farm. Colorful and beautiful pictures. It is interesting to me that autumn has started in Africa. We are in the first month of spring

Thank you for your appreciation of the pictures. Winter is knocking on the door here, as we are in the Southern Hemisphere and you guys are in the Northern Hemisphere.
South Africa is at the extreme southern tip of the African continent.

In Autumn, Mother Nature shows all of her beauty, there are so many colours and I love these as well as I love the misty mornings. It's absolutely my favourite season.

Beautiful photos, my friend, I love all, but the 4th image is my favourite - landscape with mountain and the sun shining through the leaves 😀

Thank you Hannes and yes, Autumn is a feast of colors to behold in awe. I especially like those steam trains in the Alps that passes by the tall yellow trees. Never been there, but maybe one day.
Also a favorite season for me.

Thank you and what I like about that 4th picture is the ocean mist below the mountain and you are right, the sun also lends a special character to the scene.

Cheers and thanks.

You're not alone - I haven't seen such a steam train yet neither, my friend. One day I want to see the train from the Harry Potter movie, but there are always hundreds of photographers there when it drives over the bridge 😎 !LOLZ

My pleasure, Zac, mist always adds a special lovely touch to scenes 😊

Well you are much closer than what I am and maybe you need to try and get one on camera.
I don't know the Harry guy, but if you say it's good, then I believe you. Maybe you can pick an isolated spot away from the bridge to get the train on a zoom, as that is what I would do 😉 !LOLZ

Thank you again and agreed about the mist 😊

Cheers and thanks.

I don't like to shoot man made objects, but things like an old castle or a steam train are things I like to see and also to photograph sometimes ... never seen a steam train in real life though.

Harry Potter, the most famous wizard - I loved the movies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter
There's only one spot where you can see the train and the bridge perfectly, but I don't think I will ever go there anyway 🤣 !LOLZ

You have never seen a steam train? One passes here by us every weekend and I have posted some steam trains. In my army days many years ago, we received 7 day passes and we had to travel back home for 3 days on a steam train. I love steam trains.

Marian knows the Potter guy and she told me all about him, as I asked her 😁

So strange, as we waited at a bridge for a steam train that was on its way, but it never arrived, as it hit a car at railway crossing along its route. So now you will also never see a steam train arriving at a bridge and it is so sad 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Oh, I surely have seen steam trains before, but just without really noticing or so. It was just a train 🤣 !LOLZ
Maybe the train from that movie showed me that they are quite nice 😉

You are lucky to have such a train nearby.
There are other places with bridges and steam trains here in Europe and maybe one day I will find such a spot 😀

I wish that you could take a ride on one of those steam trains my friend. It is great to sleep on a trip, as the sound of the steam engine and the steel wheels on the track sing one into a deep sleep 😉

The train line is 500 meters away from our house and we can clearly hear the steam train passing at 10am on a weekend and at 4pm when it returns. It takes the tourists from Cape Town city to the apple valley of Elgin that is over the mountain.
I am sure that you will find a bridge that crosses a train line, and maybe you can Google the steam train running times to wait for it on the bridge 😉

Cheers and thanks.

I have always hated to go by train because it was so boring but extremely loud when we were going to school. My opinion hasn't changed a lot since then but such a steam train is something special, I have to admit.

That's what I might do some day - look where steam trains go and search for a bridge 😉 !LOLZ

Nope, I have only once been in a train with other children and that was when we were one our way for a sports event in another province. You are right as it was a noisy affair.
A special steam train with a dining carraige and sleeping compartments like we have on the Blue Train here is a great experience. Shampagne and caviar all of the way.

Yep, it is the thing to do and preferably in the autumn season with all of the colors around the train. I just hope that you don't wait on a bridge where the line is not used anymore, as it could take a few days to realize that no train will be coming 😁 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, I remember when we used to go to Vienna by train there was also a dining car, but we only had beer there ... much beer 😂 !LOLZ

Oh yes, in Autumn it would be awesome - the white steam cloud over the colourful trees.

Maybe I should take a tent with me just in case I have to wait for a few days until I realize that no train will come 🤣

Real lovely and cool here now and the winds are our saviors, as even the summer heat can be endured when a cool wind comes in over the ocean. People are streaming into the Western Cape Province.

Great to hear and there will be more on the way, as now starting to get cold here.

Please note that I will be away on Monday and Tuesday, as going to a hospital in the city for a test to be done. I will schedule a post for every day, but no replies.

Yes, I have enjoyed each and every picture, also I have fallen in love with it. Each picture depicts your hard work to capture all these beautiful pictures. I love the line in which you said that The green tree is now wearing yellow hats.

Thank you and I don't regard my efforts with the camera as hard work, as it is my passion and I enjoy it.
Besides it also keeps me fit to a degree.
Personification of nature and my thoughts often lead me to give some of the sights human properties, such as the wearing of the hats.
