Playing with the full moon.

Yes, it is known as the Blood moon, but the clouds prevented me from getting it earlier.

The clouds were not solid and I knew that sooner or later I would get the moon.

Apparently we have a storm moving in slowly, as they reckon it will arrive on Thursday and in the meantime some patches of advance clouds are moving in. The cold and the wet we can handle, but with no electricity it's going to be a battle. Today we will be switched off at 8pm and each time the power cuts last for 2.5 hours.
Eventually I got the moon almost clear, but it took some patience.

This street lamp episode will show you how the moon at the right eventually cleared the first layer of cloud.

Eventually the moon cleared the cloud but the sky remained hazy.

This was 30 minutes later and the best that I could get.

Lately all of our full moons have been colored by clouds and it's going to be a long wait for summer to get clear skies again. We have winter arriving now and as I said before, it's going to be a dark, wet and cold winter. The bad thing is that we don't have a fireplace inside the house and so it will only be thick blankets and lots of coffee that we make on our small gas burner.
We had a few of these occasions last winter, so luckily we know what to expect.

I hope that you have enjoyed the photos and the story.

No fireplace? You need one. We didn't have one for years but I'm so happy we now do. Makes such a difference to a really cold farm house on those icy winter evenings. The moon is quite something! I've been watching it the last couple night's too

Maybe at the new place milady. I know fireplaces very well, as I traded and installed Jetmaster fireplaces many years ago. We also had one in the farm cottage when we moved here and in mid winter it was a blessing.
Pity that I could not get the Eclipse.

Jetmaster is fabulous! Ours is a very simple farm fireplace. Perfect for our very old and character-filled farmhouse! Thanks for the pizza

Oh yes, I know those old farm fireplaces very well as a child our farm also had one. Plus a massive old black cast iron stove. Never again have I tasted food that are similar to the meals that was cooked on that stove.

At least it gives natural light if there is no power. We have a gas fireplace which is useless as it chews gas doing a large 19kg bottle in 3 days and never used ever again. The next house it will be a must wherever that might be.

Ah gas is a sure no, no and a nice big fireplace is a great help. We are in the same boat, as we are also packing up at the moment, have been for the post couple of months, but things didn't go as planned, but now the plan has worked. In honesty I have not checked the new home for a fireplace, but if not, then I will install one.
It will be our 1oth move since the start of Papillon in 2002. Sadly no chance to go overseas as I am too old, so will have to tough things out over here.
