Poor children need quality nutrition!

024.JPG
In my years at school I had one thin sandwich spread with peanut butter and syrup every day for the lunch break.

The African sun used to fry that thin sandwich in my case into a hard crunchy biscuit like mess. Nutritional? No!
But at least I was thankful to have something to eat.
Now what would one do about poor children that go to school hungry with nothing to eat?
Come and see.

Yesterday 2021/02 Marian of @papilloncharity handed over 46,636 meals for poor school children to the CEO of the Imibala feeding project.
021.JPG

This is what one of the packets in the big bags looks like and there are 10 feedings in each of these packets.
545 big bags and each bag gives us 80 servings.

But why do I say that these are nutritious meals for the children?
Would a pie, or a sausage roll be better than this for each child?

I have posted about the Imibala Trust a year before and you can see that post HERE

Papillon is very careful when partnerships with other Non-Profits are considered and we are pleased to announce our new formal partnership with the Imibala group.

Here we have the pottery teacher preparing her class room before the opening of the new year.

Imagine never working with clay before, and here is an example of some clay figures done by the proud new learners.

A clay collage with the learners hands mounted on the wall here, to serve as a splash guard.

Here is another collage with the learners artworks.

These are the painting and drawing teachers also preparing for the new term.

My favorite painting done by one of the learners.

Finally a Cape Vulture on show here.

Now here's some more great news!

Imibala concentrates on holistic teaching and this year Papillon will start a new free coding training project for the children.

This is the new computer training center!
Coding Training 2021.jpg

So, yes, this is a food community and surely nutritious food, especially formulated for children and families, plays a big role at what we do at Papillon.
But education leads to true empowerment and a hungry child cannot pay attention very well.
Problem solved!

And that's all folks and I apologize should anyone find this post offensive.

Permit me to end with my favorite picture about our adventures at Papillon.

Thank you, but as you know, it is always a continual battle for charities to survive.
I have been working on an Endowment fund for the past 20 years. A fixed deposit and the monthly interest payouts must fund our charity work overheads, but it is slow going.

We never ask people for money and yet we have been going now for 20 years.
There are many good people out there, but they depend on honesty and transparency before they will give.
1 cent from everyone on Hive can certainly help to make a big difference.

Good on you for continuing to help the kids through these tough times. I am sure it is much appreciated. A decent diet and an education is the least they should be getting.

Thank you Sir Steve, once the basics are established in a child's life, then they have a solid foundation to build their lives upon. By only feeding one will encourage dependency and that's why education is so important, as this will give them the keys to unlock future produtive lives.
Just my way of looking at things.

Thank you and we do what we can to create better futures for the children my friend.
Feeding them only creates dependency, but quality education will empower them to become productive citizens. Then they can feed themselves and their future families.

Peanut butter and syrup sarmies still a favourite today, had the same through primary school years. Switched to toasted cheese and tomato from home during high school, this did not go well in the midday heat!

Basic meal filled with nutritional value, well done! A tummy full of breakfast takes a child's mind a lot further.

Although we don't want the children to drink !BEER or !WINE a little bit of this or that takes life further 🙂 in tokens.

Hahaha, to this day I have never touched peanut butter and syrup again.
We had this Italian boy in high school that was bullied by some louts, so I sorted them out. He brought a box full of pastrami and other Italian soft meats on rolls to school every day. Of course one of my best friends 🤣

So true, as the need is great here Lady Joan. Yesterday I received a needs list from Park Care home in Johannesburg pleading for help. They look after about 300 old people that only gets government grants and my step daughter (Psychiatrist) works there, mostly in the frail section.
That needs list is scary and I will have to see what plans we can make.

Allow me to also lift your spirits a bit with a !BEER and some !WINE

Alas this is only the tip of the iceberg as far as poverty goes, with loss of employment many more will go hungry.

Our old age homes locally are suffering where some were only for people on grants, now locked up food is being dropped at the door step.

Scary, scary stuff Lady Joan as desperation increases by the hour and it can result into terrible deeds.
Imagine not wanting the vaccination because you have no reason to live?

These power cuts are playing havoc with us once again as once again I am battling with a Mickey Mouse signal, not even to speak of the valuable time lost this morning.

Yes, the poorer old age homes are suffering and some are even thinking about closing down, which will be a travesty. Old people on the streets with nowhere to go.
We are in deep trouble in this country, while billions are spent on lavish lifestyles.

It's only just begun, the gnashing of teeth on empty bellies I really don't know what the end, nor when this country will eventually even resemble what was.

Days of never return are approaching my friend and the current dwang will look like a playground.
I am not a doom profit at all, but the signs of the times are all manifesting.
A rough ride awaits methinks.

But in the meantime, have some !BEER

Thank you kindly for the blessings my friend.
We believe in transparency and unfortunately I have to place these posts from time to time for people to fully understand what we are doing. My fear is always that it might be seen as bragging and thankfully the ones that know us for a long time know that it is not so.
We just simply do what we can with what we have.
