Sea gulls flying at sunset.

I just had to combine the gulls with the sunset, as it made sense to me.
203.jpg

I start with a sunset shot, and then you will see some flying sea gulls (4 shots). In the second half of the post, I wanted to show you how the sunset started (5 shots).

We have had cloudy weather these past days and on many of the days we couldn't even see the sunset. So, when I saw a chance to get a sunset it happened too soon, as I could not drive out to a high spot. So, I made a plan by taking the sunset shots in our front garden. I am getting very forgetful lately, as I know that the winter sunset times are earlier and now at the start of our summer it is much later, but my mind was still stuck in the winter times. Lol.

A friend told me that he recently saw a large flock of pelicans coming over and I also did a post with those same pelicans about 3 or 4 years ago. Maybe I will search for the post to show you again, but I don't know if I will be able to find it. Nevertheless, I will give it a go. Back to the present, I got the idea to combine a sunset with some gulls, and while I was taking the shots I also got some great silhouettes of other big birds in the late sky that I will show you in a post sometime.
Come and see.

This is the start of the gull shots, and I couldn't determine the species as they were too high.

My zoom certainly worked overtime, but it was worth it.

Now let's see how this cloud stream changes.

I watched that single stream of cloud above the tree.

And ever so slowly it started to change. Not only did the colors become more intense, but the cloud formation below the single stream also increased.
190.JPG

Then the top part of the stream started to come apart.

And everything started to take on different shapes.

I have shown you the tag picture, and it was supposed to also go in here after this shot, but I don't want to post double pictures. In any case, the show started to close down as you will see in the picture below.

A pity that I was too late to get to a high spot, where I normally take the sunsets from, but I think that you will agree that this one also looks good. Besides, I am now limited to travel around like I used to get the sunset above the ocean, as our gas (petrol) prices are escalating tremendously. All to do with the closure of the Hormuz Strait by Iran, and as the oil tankers cannot go through the strait, the oil prices are climbing by the day.

We don't have a big car, and our car is very light on fuel, but even that is not enough to ward off the increases. The orange man has also now blocked the Iran oil exports, and it sounds like a never ending story. I am not much into politics, but I can't understand why grownups cannot sit around a table to discuss and negotiate their issues. Just imagine how the poor people suffer to pay for transport, as due to the oil situation even food prices are increasing.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Adults who lose touch with reality, develop immunity complexes and are determined to hoard wealth for themselves and those who kiss their asses are not really adults at all. This is why and I am hoping to see a shade of change in a week or so.

Back to the things we can control! Enjoying beauty. Driving into the sunset is not so pleasant and reminds us exactly how many bugs are neared on our windshield. If we can afford the gas to drive that is.

Continuing to hand the summer torch off, our Canada geese are assembling and headed south to shit all over their land for the winter! 🥶

You don't sound so happy here, and maybe you have to take one of your Saturday beers Lol.
I would so love to get the Canadian geese on my zoom, as it would be a blow out.
The torch will soon be here :)

Those really are some gorgeous sunset shots. It's shame you couldn't get to a higher location for the shots, but fuel prices are high everywhere. I can only imagine the nightmare prices you must have to suffer down there in the Cape. But you still got some fantastic shots despite the limitations!

The gulls were nice shots too, flying in formation. I don't know that I've ever seen the gulls here do that, but I don't think they migrate. They are year round residents. That probably explains it!

It really would be nice if countries could work things out like adults. But cultural differences have eternally made that impossible. Humans have been fighting and killing each other since the dawn of humanity, whether it be over land, women, or resources. Today's world isn't all that much better for all the supposed progress we've made.

With any luck this mess in Iran will be resolved soon, As will the mess in Ukraine and all of the messes in Africa... Sometimes in feels like the world is slipping back into chaos more that ever. But then again, it's probably always been this way, we just didn't have 24/7 new coverage 50 years ago. As you like to say, such is life, whether we like it or not...

A tip as always to help your charity my friend!

I am not so good with the replies anymore, as I am in some kind of a slump. Don't know what's going on, and the forgetfulness is getting worse. But hey, I am not complaining.

Nowadays people walk around with the world in their pockets (phones), and it seems to have speeded up miscommunications that flows like water does. In the old days people would think before they threaten others with war, but now it has become instantaneous.

It seems that Iran are dragging things out to see what's going to happen in the USA midterm elections. They must be hoping that the Trump party will lose badly.
It is what it is Lol.
