Set your eyes on things above.

So many of us never look up and we miss treasures in the skies.

Now don't ask me what they are, as I stumbled on them this morning after having breakfast on a farm.

Marian's aunt invited us for a breakfast at the Vergelegen farm to celebrate Marian's birthday.
So obviously I gave the women space to chat about women things (that can thankfully take hours) and I took a walk with my camera.
I saw a flock of birds landing in a flower bed at a distance and I decided to go and investigate.
Come and have a look.

I have the unfortunate habit of allowing my camera to lead me astray. Thankfully Marian knows that and can you believe that when I returned after about 1 hour, although Marian would say it was 2 hours away. But in my defense I am very conservative with numbers nowadays the same as crypto is these days :), they were chatting away like only the female species can.
Topics like ovaries and handbags which gave me the perfect opportunity to excuse myself again.

"Piccy", my camera was very excited and we got something like about 300 photos on the farm.
Some of them are top class and here's a teaser.

So until next time, I hope that you have enjoyed the photos.

Cape Canary flocking together by the look of it, normally occurs in winter, perhaps confused with the weather of late.

Table cloth over the mountain, next round of photography sounds interesting!

Yep, I did consider the Cape canary and it is indeed possible, but in that sunlight one can never be sure.

Just as tricky as this Raven,

Only the wing shape and the tail gives it away.

Lovely to see them too, bit noisier when flying 2 x 2, we had some crows around a month ago not sure where they have wandered off to again.

Also have a flock of birds that fly too fast to identify every evening they go through just before sunset.

Nice captures, always fun to see what is around.

Great to hear that the bird life there is still well. I remember that up north in Mtunzini there were two Hornbills in the paw-paw trees every day. Pity that I didn't have a camera.

Can you not zoom that flock of birds?

Hornbills very much further up North Coast, down here we don't see them. Always in hindsight with investing in camera equipment, but then could not afford my own bringing up children.

Have to look at flock of birds on computer to try identify. Plenty of weavers around at the moment scoffing everything out the bird feeder when they have a chance with Cheeky still protecting the tree and food.

Noticed around eight Yellow-bill kites when returning from shops yesterday, no camera with me when shopping. 🙃

So strange as I was never into photography. But the start of our charity in 2002 made me a photographer and many days after until now I still rue the idea that I didn't start when I was much younger.
But such is life.

Not easy to id a flock in hazy far conditions. Only a few weavers here bit the ringneck doves are a pain, as the scoff even the Robins food.
Yep, Cheeky will have full control over his little kingdom.

What a shot those Kites would have been, but it was meant for your eyes only.

Before I owned my own little camera I used to sit on the bed side enjoying early morning coffee watching around fifteen yellow-billed kites in the valley across the road, now all gone to flat tinned roofs of industry!

I think the flock was weavers in the shot I captured and will post once I have a moment, life is finding a mouse/rat that is coming into the home of late, cockroaches fly in and stumble around like tanks with the heat and humidity. Quite happy if they remain outdoors, in the home not so much.

And they have the cheek to call the new developments "progress".

Easy to get a rat. Put a chunk f cheese on the kitchen floor and wait for the rat to come with your baseball bat !LOLZ

Now if you want to laugh then you have to hear Marian when she sees one of those big buggers.
They are really not good for anything methinks.

Will get rid of the rat/rats with bait, really cannot take them being inside the kitchen!

Had what looked like a Herald snake in the lounge this morning had to help it on it's way outdoors, perhaps looking for food... No photographs unfortunately had to open the sliding door, trellis gate to show it the way back into the garden, where it darted off down into the fern garden.

Cockroach bait now being applied in strategic spots as well, having all these arrive during hot humid weather is a pain!

Well Saturday is upon us once again, enjoy!

Wow! It seems that you are slowly being invaded by nature Lady Joan.
So the rat comes into the house, the snake swallows the rat and the cockroach eats the snakes excrement.
Nothing wasted and the house is clean !LOLZ

Enjoy the weekend in your mini zoo 🤣

This cloud rolling over the mountain looks great 🤩

I hope that Marian has had a nice birthday chat. That you have had a nice birthday walk is visible in your photos 😊
