Shark alarm at the beach.

Never good tidings when the beaches are packed.
057.jpg

I heard the whistle as we were driving along the beach road and I hassled to find a parking.

Then I went and stood on a high sand dune near the road to watch the action.

On Monday our schools re-open for the new year and now many families come down to the beaches with their children to enjoy the last few days of the holidays.
But a shark flag bearing soul running with a whistle will scare any swimmer out of the water.
One could hear the shouts of the parents right up to where I was standing next to the road.

065.jpg

But where was the shark as I couldn't see him as I watched the shark boat on the horizon ?
074.jpg

I thought that this was it, but no it was people swimming out .
068.jpg

As I said, the beaches were packed with people and the shark flag bearers have to run for miles along the coast.
For instance this guy with the flag and the whistle started to clear the ocean of swimmers from the far right hand of the beach.

Some people however never listen and at the left of the photo you can still see some souls in the shallows.

And there at the right our flag bearing whistler continued his run. I think that he will end up at the old jetty that is a few more kilometers away.

So imagine that you are sitting on a very hot beach with excited little children that can only sit and stare at the cool water. Must be a mad house for the parents, but safety comes first and rather that than to be attacked by a shark. Many think that in the shallows one is safe, but that is not so, as a hungry shark will raid right into the shallows.
So we laud the lifesavers for the excellent way that they are performing their duties to keep people safe.
It is not an easy job and they are real heroes.

And That's All Friends.

Never a good thing on a packed beach OR if you are the only one in the water! I was a lifesaver on the South Coast and swimming on those back lines, near the shark nets was rather nerve wracking

I can bet that it is a great adrenaline boost to swim near those nets and up on the north cost I had teams working on the high voltage towers. So one of the foremen and me swam far out in the sea.
I don't think that there were shark nets there as the beaches are wild with no visitors.

A shark alert is always bad news in a populated area.

I know why I don't like deep water - hearing this whistle you would see me swimming a new world record.
Some people will always be stupid and stay in the danger zone.

Hahaha, I said somewhere else that I will be running on the water.
Yep and certainly not a time to show bravery, as the shark can strike in an instant at high speed.

Cheers and thanks.

There's no chance to get away if a shark is hungry, I believe.

It is not an easy job and they are real heroes.

I think the same way, they are heroes, there is no salary that pays for their dedication to this worthy work, it is their vocation, and they also have to deal with reckless people.

Oh man they would not have to tell me twice. I would set a world record for getting my butt out of that water!!!
