Some amazing moments this morning.

Hellow all Hivers look how happy I am and I want to tell you a story today.
023.jpg

A great surprise that made us very happy to see and maybe the start of a new family.

Zac and Marian think about their squirrel family with longing hearts every day, as they had to leave them behind to move to a new place. So, I spoke to my squirrel friends and we decided to send an explorer as we heard that they have granadilla fences at their new house.
Let's see if it is true.

Yay! The first for us to see a squirrel in the front garden of our new place.
010.JPG

012.JPG

We left some ripe granadillas on the ground near our flowerpots, as we now live next to a river and I was hoping to attract a possible mongoose visitor.
019.JPG

But no mongoose as somebody else appeared to take an interest.
031.JPG

This little squirrel thought to do something better with my idea.
He grabbed the granadilla, popped up onto a wooden beam that you saw in the photos above to jump down into a small tree. Then he dropped the granadilla into an old bird nest. Presumably to hide it from other squirrels.
019.JPG

He looked at me as I was taking the shots through the study window.
033.JPG

Say man, please leave some nuts around for my next visit.
037.JPG

And then he was gone. So yes, we will most certainly put some nuts out for him in a safe place where the doves can't get to it.
Maybe it is the start of a new family and time will tell so we will just continue to place the ripe granadillas on the floor between the flowerpots.
In a future post I will show you the benefit of having granadilla fences at a house, as they are alive with little birds.

Don't believe me? Look if you can see the two birds in this photo?
068.JPG

All that it takes is patience and a good vantage spot, such as a study window.

Note! Today we will be going down to another of the coastal towns and let's hope that I can get some good shots.

I hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

And That's All Friends.

Thank you and now I have to patiently teach the guy to come and take a nut from my hand at the window. But it took a long time to teach the others at our old house and it's always a challenge.
Squirrels are happy little souls my friend, just as we are supposed to be 😊

Aah Zac... such a lovely feel-good post to be reading today 😊💗 I love squirrels and granadillas hehe. We have the former in the greenbelt next door to our home here in England. The latter I tried growing 2 years ago but an early frost put paid to that idea... I am going to try again next year and this time keep them in a greenhouse. When I was little... like up to 8 years old, we lived in a house in SA and had a granadilla fence too... I love the beautiful passion flowers, they are simply divine... and their scent, when they are in bloom, is heavenly. Not to mention the fruit... so I understand the wily ways of that wee squirrel 😂😂😂 So happy for you both that you have your very own new squirrel neighbours - let's hope this is the start of a wonderful new friendship for you❣️ Big hugs !LUV !ALIVE !PIZZA

Thank you Sam and I am sure that you will have success with a greenhouse as granadillas don't like frost.
Great that you also have squirrels there and I will tell my daughter as she also lives in the UK with her little family. I know that the first squirrels in South Africa was brought here by a Lord whatchamacallit, as I forget his name from the UK and great that you also once upon a time lived here. The passion flowers are great and I am growing Jasmine flowers right next to the granadillas. Soon this place will smell like paradise. Imagine the scent that this would leave on the wily squirrel and he will soon establish a harem 😉
That is what we are waiting for and big hugs reciprocated !LOLZ !PIZZA !LUV ❤️

Jasmine and Passion Fruit flowers - heavenly! That little guy just landed his bum in the proverbial !LOLZ ... I'm sure your daughter would have come across the grey squirrels by now... and if not, simply a matter of time... It's the native red squirrels that are harder to come by here... very rare sightings now occur of red squirrels and they are not the native kind anymore...they died out a century ago... they just cannot survive with the grey squirrels which were introduced from America, and essentially deprived the reds of food and shelter. Take care, Zac...

Oh yes, that smell even make visitors to like me :)
She will be sure to tell me if she has seen any squirrels, as we all love nature, but you are right as she will be sure to see some sometime.
Sad about the demise of the red squirrels as I think that they look much nicer than the grey ones. It also happens over here, as many new imports decimate the natural residents.

You also take care Sam!

It's wonderful that you finally made a new squirrel friend 🙌 Once the word gets out, you'll have the most popular spot in the neighborhood :) A mongoose would make a great friend too :) ...

Thank you and it's going to take some time my friend. We have seen a mongoose down by the river and let's wait and see.

Sadly no, he was way too fast and although I have posted mongoose pictures in the past it was always lucky shots as they are very stealthy movers.

Maybe, but I have my doubts as the cannot endure the presence of humans and I don't blame them.
They are however excellent snake fighters and I love to watch documentaries of mongoose versus poisonous snake fights.

Is that venom shooting out of the snake? It would be amazing to see such a battle in the wild :) ...

Yes, it looks like a Spitting Cobra and it will be great to a mongoose tackle a snake. Maybe some day.
