Some lovely African birds.

Weird weather did not stop us from going out to a nature reserve.
263.jpg

This little guy is called a Cape Batis (Batis capensis) and he has a lovely song.

Birds in the wild are plentiful here depending where one wants to search for them. I move through the trees like a ghost and they don't even know that I am there. So they go about their business and I go about mine with the camera.
Maybe that renowned and celebrated wildlife bird photographer @johannpiber will like this :)
Come and look.

Here is a young Malachite male and something special happened here.
348.JPG

He had a younger Malachite brother (Nectarinia famosa)
342.JPG

And believe it or not, he was feeding a younger brother.
The parents were nowhere around and maybe they were orphans.
343.JPG

Beautiful scrambled colors and later the colors will solidify into the lush show of metallic green.
345.JPG

Now for a change as this ringed bird is a Cape Sugarbird (Promerops cafer) preening in a rare late sunbreak.
The ring on his leg means that he was counted and listed.
299.JPG

Fluffing and stretching in preparation for flight.
313.JPG

There were two of them sitting on top of this bush.
291.JPG

This is what a young adult looks like and I love their tails.
250.JPG

Now let me show you two beautiful ducks.

The first fella is an African Black Duck (Anas sparsa) wild of course.
198.JPG

And the second guy is a Yellow Billed Duck (Anas undulata)
209.JPG

A friend @tengolotodo also bought a Canon camera like mine recently and you can see how his lovely bird shots have improved HERE

All of these are wild birds and I could easily put more than a hundred photos of wild birds in this post, but I have to limit myself.
We also saw two flocks of Guinea fowls fighting for territory in a public road that runs next to the nature reserve. That is a post for another day.
I thank you for visiting this post and hope that you have also appreciated the beauty of our wild birds.
A happy Thursday to everyone.

And That's All Friends.

Oh Wow, you're a deft hand with the camera, I always find it hard to get clear shots, though I never use a tripod and typically use my phone, so maybe that's the problem!! I especially like the first photo and how clear it is.

Thank you and I never use a phone. I use my camera and no tripod, as I am a free hand shooter.
That little Batis came and posed nicely for me as normally they are very difficult to get. Shy little birds that remain hidden from sight.

Thank you my friend. It was just one of those days, as the birds were hungry after the rain and we were in the right place at the right time.
I actually went there to try a get the African Fish Eagle, but he was nowhere to be found.
Hope that your day is or was also good.

Amazing that you should say that as I got a Fish Eagle yesterday, but he was very high up in the sky.

I know that I will eventually get him much lower on a high tree or in flight, so it's only a matter of time.

Thank you and the Malachite's are some of my favorites to get on camera. Those two were youngsters and let's hope that they make it through winter. But I will only see if they made in October or November.
I go out on impulse and never plan the outings, as then I get more surprises 🤣 !LOLZ

You are welcome 😁
That what we tend to do… go out spontaneous, think in the moment where to go for a walk.

They are just gorgeous those youngsters. Hope they make it through the winter 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Always the best to go out on instinct, as most often nice surprises are waiting.
The Malachite's are beautiful birds and yes, I am worried about the younger one, as tomorrow our temperatures are starting to drop. So their battle to find food will start until the winter is over.

Yes it is…
Maybe try to feed them a little, or was it to far to do that?

0

Nope , no can feed as they are indeed too far away and if one has to hang a bottle with nectar in it, then the big ants will clean it out instantly.

We have other plants that flower in winter and I am sure that they know where those plants are.

I knew you would come up with some lovely bird photos to show me who's the master here, Zac 😀
You should have been with me today, my friend, a big predator bird flew for a few hundred meters right in front of my car. I couldn't stop and the bird was gone into the woods when I found a place to stop aside the road.

I love the Cape Sugarbird most today - he's looking sweet like sugar and that tail is amazing 😍

Good evening Hannes,

Nope, I am no master my friend and I have no desire to be one. I only post what's nice for me and I am lucky and happy that others also like it 😊

Ah! That always happens and it is so disheartening when you know that Mother nature teases you and when you stop she really giggles when she sees your sorrowful expressions 😉

They are great birds and they know that soon the Protea flowers will bloom. So they wait patiently for their beloved food. I have posted some of them on a protea bushes 👍
Thank you for the appreciation.

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

I am sitting here, waiting for some sunshine but I think it will not happen today.

We had bad thunderstorms last night with hail as big as golf balls. Luckily it didn't hail in the city, but only 10 kilometres away where I work all police cars have been damaged.

So I think I will just drive around a bit and take pictures of the rainy weather 😂 !LOLZ

Good evening Hannes,

Best to stay indoors my friend and rather use the time to clean your store 🤣 !LOLZ

Ouch, one cannot play with hail stones, as my car still have marks from them.
Glad that it didn't also strike you guys and it's going to cost a bucket of money to fix all of those police cars.

Hahaha, nope rather clean your store my friend as you will have much more success.
Look how wet this squirrel is today.

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

it's a day later, I know, but I haven't been online yesterday and today - I have been to Slovenia for some photography and there it was quite dry while here it's still raining.

I leave the cleaning for someone else, I believe 🤣 !LOLZ

All police cars are insured and will be repaired soon. Luckily it didn't hail here, but we have had quite heavy damages from hail a few years ago.

Wet and lovely is this cute squirrel - hope you have had a pleasant Sunday, my friend ☺️

Good evening Hannes,

and I hope that you know that I don't mind when you don't reply as I always know that you are out with the excuse that you want to take photos. Maybe you only disappear because your wife wants you to clean the store 🤣 !LOLZ

The insurance also paid to have my hail damaged car fixed, but the car was never the same again.

Thank you and we had a weird "two worlds" Sunday my friend. Incessant rain half day and at the same time sunshine at the coast.
I will show you in a post tomorrow 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

of course I know that, but I needed to say it anyway ☺️
If it was for that reason I would disappear for longer than only for a few hours 😇 !LOLZ

When hail damaged my old car it looked much better after the repair 😁

I have seen this post today. We are often having just such "two worlds" weather, maybe because of the mountains. When I crossed the border on a mountain pass from Slovenia to Austria yesterday, I came from almost sunshine into a heavy rainstorm.

Good evening Hannes,

Hahaha, I do exactly the same as when she packs the boxes for moving, I simply do a disappearing act 🤣 !LOLZ

Great but our hail stones are so big that they can break car windows and if the fitters do not fit the new glass correctly, then it leaks when it rains. When they fix the grill with Super blue it eventually rattles loose 😉

Exactly right and you also have two world scenarios, so you know what I was talking about ☂️

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Zac,

let's disappear and explore the world while our wifes make all clear at home 😂 !LOLZ

My old car has had a glass roof that was damaged too - so yes, our hail stones are quite big too 😉

Yep, the weather changes here from valley to valley and from village to village 🌞🌧️

Good evening Hannes,

Not a bad idea so let's pack a bag with much clothing and as as we leave we, tell them them that we are taking the clothes to the laundromat 🤣 !LOLZ

Yeah I remember that you once bragged with your old car's glass roof and I think that Mother nature didn't like it, so she sent some hail stones your way to damage your pride 😛

Same here and each place has a different character, so it is like moving around in different worlds. The weather also thinks so 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Good evening Hannes,

Then you can just say that the clothes that you are taking needs to be washed with special benzine treatments and only laundry places have it available. Or I know that you can conjure up a much better excuse 🤣 !LOLZ

Shame yes, Mother nature is a special lady and because her children threw hailstones at you car, she felt that it was her duty to replace your glass roof 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.
