Something unusual here on Friday.

Today I want to show you recyclable artworks made by hand.
152.jpg
This elephant artwork was made from old metal company sign boards.

A happy Friday to all and we hope all of you will enjoy the coming weekend.
We were at a local market and the fabulous African artists had their works on show. It is so nice on a Saturday morning to go and take a walk through the aisles of a market, especially if it is situated in a beautiful nature area, backed by a big mountain.
So come and have a look.

As you see, waste materials like the cork tops of wine bottles and the tops of cold-drink bottles, and even plastic cable ties, were used to cover wire frames of animals. So, in future, if you see waste laying around start collecting it and make your own artworks out of it. At least it is better than the waste flowing into the ocean or killing some animals eating it. The ocean is filled with plastic which does not bode well for our future, and I wouldn't mind to see millions of artworks made out of waste all over the place.

151.JPG

Finally, this is an exceptional handmade rocking horse that always grabs my attention. I can see myself as a tiny tot rocking about on that horse. Falling off and crying, drying the tears, you know the process, and then getting back up again on the horse :)

158.JPG

Note, that these are not professional artists with college and university degrees in art, but you can see that the works that they deliver here means that they have love for nature and for art.
In many cases the parents pass on their skills to the children and so this trend continues throughout the ages.
I can only wonder how many great skills have gotten lost throughout time, so let us just enjoy the ones that are currently still around.

And That's All Friends.

Rhino head and cork top Kudu both stand out and look great, yes using small pieces most throw away gives creative people tools to work with.

Thank you and yes, they are special pieces Lady Joan.
Best is none of the waste ends up in the sea.

I only wonder what our beaches are going to look like after all the thousands om them today.
We took a slow drive along the beach bumper to bumper with cars looking for parking not knowing that there is no parking. Took us about 30 minutes to get out of a short trip along the beach.

Never in our life's will we see this again Lady Joan.
They leave the beaches looking like waste fields.

I have to go and sleep now, as we have to be up very early tomorrow morning. So don't worry, as I will answer your replies tomorrow.
Ps. Marian's aunt is taking us for breakfast early tomorrow for Marian's birthday.

Filth left on beaches, it is about time spot fines were imposed on revelers and fishermen.

Wish Marian for her birthday and have a wonderful morning out in cooler weather hopefully.

Oh yes, spot fines are issued but "hoor is min" especially when the dop starts talking.
It is just a very bad habit that is almost impossible to eradicate.

Marian says thank you very much and that you should take care of yourself.
As per your hope, we have a nice and strong cool wind blowing. Coming in all the way from the deep parts of the cold Atlantic ocean.

With schools back perhaps things will adjust a little now, people who don't listen must feel, after effects of alcohol and sun, no fun in that.

Hope Marian had a wonderful outing, enjoy the cool breeze blowing through, no reprieve here, none in sight either.

First time in my life to see people so desperate for the schools to open again.
It seems that in this country maybe only 10% of everyone listens.

Sad that you guys are back in the sweating stuff. But there's always hope.

Children are back at school here, very happy at the moment. Hopefully schools don't shut due to excessive heat which has happened in previous years. Children next door only come out to play from 6pm to 7pm.

Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!

Amazing as we went out in the midday sun to wine farm's open air restaurant and it was filled with adults. Normally the place is half full, but I think so many parents were desperate to get out after their torture during the school holidays.

My pain with the 30% pass rate cannot be described Lady Joan. I really fear for the children's future and that's why I am so impressed with our new partners namely Imibala. They also offer the children full maths classes and we run our new computer coding classes there.

Here is an interview of Marian in a recent newspaper article.

https://www.netwerk24.com/netwerk24/za/distrikspos/nuus/teaching-learners-coding-20220119-2

So yes we might stem some serious side effects for some parents and children

Hope that you guys will have a good weekend.

Need to adjust teaching to way it was, additional new technology in digital classrooms.

Worrying about too much altering history books? Rather tackle problems head on with proper teaching/marking, no shoving some learners through to make up numbers, I know it looks good, it does not help later in life.

Congratulations on project lifting off successfully and nice interview with Marian covering all the detail.

Good luck to all of you, have a great weekend!

Nope the current teaching system is slowly wrecking the future methinks.
I say bring back the apprentice system so that kids can be properly trained to become artisans.
Not that I think that will ever happen.
Of course technology should have been instituted as a part of the curriculum many years ago, but the wheel in this country is rusted and it turns very slowly. Lately it feels as if the wheel is turning in reverse gear.

Pumping out semi skilled kids like sausages. Doom for all of them in the future.
How can anyone understand something completely with a 30% pass mark requirement. What about the other 70%?

Hope that your weekend is also going well.

!WINEX

Thank you and we have seen these project miracle before over Papillon's years.
Thank you also for the share on Twitter and I have more exciting news, but like always will wait until it materializes before I share the news.

Apprentice systems should be re-introduced they worked exceptionally well, sausage factory school method currently in use is a disaster. Handful that manage to get proper training never have opportunity to apply themselves in business due to not having experience. Snake eating it's own tail!

Look forward to hearing your news always, progress in positive mindset for youth finding their way into NPO system like you offer.

Happy Sunday, made a beach walk and feel a lot better for it, so do the dogs.

Snake eating it's own tail and 20 years from now three quarters of the country will be unemployed at the rate we are going. With a vast over population as well.

It is always what we teach them that counts Lady Joan. First fruits and not rubbish.

Beach walks are always good for the soul and the mutts must have been in their element.

Reverse-apartheid has happened especially 40+ "White and Indian" now sitting with families unable to move, the youth need to be given best education possible enabling a possible better future.

Child grant should only be extended to one child, after that you on your own, too many are 'baby farming' for additional grant money, which is not even getting to the little ones.

Timed beach walk well, sun came out later and turned hot once again.

A big problem as simply no jobs for the 40 plus. something should seriously be done about it and it's amazing how many of even an older age have secure jobs in parliament. Definitely not to serve the people.

Well we have politicians encouraging baby farming.

We are frying here in a two day heatwave that they recon will end tomorrow night.

Hot up here as well, one day reprieve sometimes a couple of hours then the heat swoops straight back at you.

Have a great day, totally disgusted bringing in Cubans and Chinese for employment yet leave their own destitute, man on the street cries fowl with Zimbabweans. As far as youth and all these babies it is a disgrace!

We have rain in the offing in the next 2 days and like you guys, the heat will return after.

Ha, as soon as one of the old house here are sold, the first thing that the new owners put up is high walls with electric fencing at the top.

Strange as we had the same light rain and strong winds. Tomorrow we are back into the 30s.

First I have heard of the Mothman and just looked it up. What a weird creature indeed that is if it is not indeed a huge Crane bird.
We are in South Africa and there's no mothman sightings here.
If I ever get one one camera you will be most welcome to live vicariously through me.

They love what they do and you can see it in their art - who says that one must study and know the "how" and the "why" in art - art is art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder ... I like these pieces, especially the black rhino looks great in my eyes 🤩

You are so right as art is an inherent talent and just like the birds instinctively know how discern if a fruit is poisonous, just so can an artist discern the lines and shapes of a drawing, or a sculpture.

The black Rhino was covered with strips of plastic and yes the finish looks great 😊

Cheers and thanks.

Cheers and thanks.

The elephant for the win!!! Actually, they are all so very beautiful and most artists I know are not trained or schooled, I should say. Perhaps after they have worked in it for a while and want to enhance something, but, I believe it is something that lies within you, and a person such as myself, has nothing of the sort. It doesn't matter if I was taught, I could muddle through the lines, but, art is something you much feel, in my opinion.

I commend this man for his work and for keeping the plastic and trash out of our oceans. Thank you for showing off this brilliant artist! Okay, looking back, I love the Kudu also and the rocking horse! :) Thank you!!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Thank you Lady Denise and I agree that art is an inherent quality that people like you and me are not born with. But we find other forms such as in our photos to show our own arty methods.
My estranged dad was one of those arty souls as when I met him later in my life, he had a range of carvings that he did in wood and the man could play any musical instrument.
I can only play the fool !LOLZ

Anybody and anything that keep the trash out of the oceans need to be commended methinks.

These are very creative forms of art and I applaud them recycling/reusing items. I am a bit fanatic about trying to keep stuff from the landfills. Once it warms I have a garage full of items I have recovered from the neighborhood trash that I am going to take to the scrapyard to be melted down.

Oh yes, we never walk on the beach without bags to pick up the waste.
Glad that you are also taking care of the environment, as it is so essential to care for this planet.
Today the Western Cape Province was the hottest place in the world and they say that it is getting worse, so we struggle to breathe here.
