Squirrels, birds and all sorts.

I go out early morning to pray, but first there's some obstacles.
001.jpg

An obstacle of double trouble as they want nuts, but luckily by now I know that, as this is not the first time. I always have nuts in my pocket.

At 11am this morning I will be laying on a hospital bed under an X-Ray machine, as I am seeing an orthopedic doctor today for my knee.
I think it's going to be bad news, as my leg was severely damaged in a motorbike accident many years ago that almost cost me my life. But now that I am older the injuries are taking their revenge.
So I apologise for posting earlier today.

Right, they have their nuts and they are happy as you can see.
005.jpg

Thirsty work and a girl has to have a drink. The girls drink from the bucket on the ground and the males drink from the higher bird bath.
016.jpg

This is the new guy and he is a White-backed Mousebird (Colius colius).
I had to chase him away yesterday as he sits in the tree where the little sunbirds have their nest and I will show you the story in my post later today.
022.jpg

I love the streaks of clouds when the wind plays with the clouds and was lucky to have this dove crossing over my lens.
064.jpg

Double luck as here was another dove crossing over.
062.jpg

Finally this big dove also came over very high up and the early sun lighted up his nose.
059.jpg

And here you have it, just another early morning outside in the garden and life goes on.
Luckily I am used to operations as many were done on the leg and I think that they are going to replace my knee. But there's a bigger problem as the blood circulation to the foot is also blocked as they had to reroute the main leg artery and this is another headache that needs to be solved.
So, we shall see what we shall see and there is always hope.

And That's All Friends!

It seems the girls are cleverer than the boys in South Africa as well as in the rest of the world ... I have to write that just in case my wife reads it 🤣 ... the squirrel girl drinks from the bucket with the cleaner water and the boy drinks from the bath, but maybe he likes the taste of it 😎

I hope you are wrong, Zac, and the doctor will tell you good news or at least a simple solution that will work.

Hahaha, you only figure that now Hannes? How do you think that your wife got you? 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, women are way cleverer than men methinks.

Our squirrel men have manners and they rather allow the ladies to drink the clean water 🤣
But when it comes to nuts it is a free for all comers and we have many fights here between the sexes 🤣

Nope, I have told you the outcome in a previous reply. Kaput as in KAPUT!

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

haha, yes, you are right, they are cleverer than us, or in other words, we are more stupid or less smart than we think we are 🤣

Who wins such a fight? I know who wins a fight between my wife and me 😎

If something is kaput then replace it with something that works - if a wheel on my car breaks I get a new one 😉

Hahaha, a little of the first option and much of the second option methinks 🤣🤣🤣

Hahaha, so you let your wife win all of the fights. How kind of you Hannes 🤣

Well in my case the new wheel comes at the cost of a car and it is horribly expensive.

Cheers and thanks.

Of course, I let her win ... I let her think she has won 🤣

In that case I hope they will find a better solution that at least the pain goes away, but you know that I don't know anything about such things.

Hahaha, yes, that's the clever one, make her think that all ideas are hers, then life will be smooth 🤣
I also like to ask her opinion on things, as it makes her to feel very appreciated, but at times I don't have the time to sit down for an hour to listen to her opinions 🤣

Us men can say a simple yes or no. I still have to find a woman that can do that, as they say yes or no and then they explain why they did so 🤣

She comes to me and say, darling do you want an ice cream? and I say no thanks. Finished.
I go to her and ask, sweetheart, do you want and ice cream ?, then I have to sit down, as she says, you know Susie's aunt lost a tooth biting down on a cold and hard ice-cream and Jenny slipped on an ice cream cone and sprained her ankle, Sarah said'........................................ .............. ............................... ................. ... ..... ........................." I think you know what this means 😉

At the end of her story I have forgotten that I wanted an ice cream🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks

Hahaha, I know such very well, but I also know colleagues who are even worse. We have had meetings where one talked 15 minutes where a simple "no" would have been enough. A few colleagues have left the meeting while he was explaining...

Hahaha, yes, some people like to over detail what they are saying and as soon as I hear a repeat of what they have said before, then I also put my hiking boots on.
A simple yes or no can at most times be very effective.

Cheers and thanks.

Clever little lady she has the tub to herself, eating is hard work and peanuts, well just call it hard work!

Hope that knee get fixed, nothing worse than when those bones don't behave (especially after accidents), always reminders from the earlier years....

Let us know results, know we are thinking of you and Marian.

Hahaha, you are right Lady Joan and I think that amount of hard work can dry one's throat.

Fighting with the medical aid tomorrow, as they will pay for everything exept the new knee.
The cost of the knee, or prosthesis as they call it, is R40,000 and that's an amount that we can never afford. In fact we cannot even afford R10,000 so tomorrow I will take up the battle with them.

My knee is bone to bone with no more cartiledge and that's why I have so much pain when I walk and it wakes me many times at night.
So let's hope that we will come right with the medical aid.

Thank you for so kindly thinking of us.

Medical aid system really makes me angry, paid over all our lives yet when you really need them in latter years they give no reduction for years of payments, many pensioners stop their cover since it is too expensive to upkeep.

Then if you can afford them, they come with every excuse in the book not to cover you, all hidden in small print, Medical Aid are highway robbers since Discovery came into this country!

Good luck, fighting these systems with answering machines, people on the other end after waiting hours for human connection normally don't help at all....

Oh, I see that I have told you already.
Yes we had to drop down to the second lowest plan wich still costs us R4000+ per month and we cannot afford gap cover.

Now I am thinking that if I cancel the medical aid and save R3000 every month for a year we will have R36,000 for medical expenses. So maybe after 2 or 3 years we will not need a medical aid.
I am still trying to fathom how they can charge R40,000 for a new knee.

But for now we will see what we can do.

Early years I only used Government Hospitals, now we on the Coastal Plan with Discovery jumping through hoops for everything. Could not get GAP cover either, were told we are over sixty by them too... So they want you young and healthy, give you discounts on food and hope never to pay out on actual medical expenses.

Ask certain surgeons if you pay cash (especially anesthetist) for discount perhaps you will be able to afford?

Oh yes, they are very clever when it comes to paying out.
Told us that they will only pay for the knee when it's a PMB, meaning that I must have proof of damage to the knee in a car accident, or if I had fallen.
They don't pay forc wear and tear in the lower plans.

!Cheers and thanks.

Nope. I was sent for X-Rays and scans and the knee must be replaced as nothing more can be done.
So the doctor booked an operation for the 28th of this month, but we cancelled it today, as we don't have the money to pay for it.
Such is life my friend.

My pizzas are finished, but I hope that I still have a !BEER

Oh no, I hope the replacement goes well :( ... How much will it cost?

May I please use one of your bird pictures for a fun contest here, giving you credit? Basically what people do is look at it, then tell a story ❤️

Thanks so much for the !BEER :) I think I still have some

We cancelled the operation as the cost is very high. The new knee alone is ZAR40,000 apart from all of the other costs.

Yes sure, you can use my photo and I hope that the contest goes well for you.
There is another contest like this in the #featheredfriends community where they post a photo and ask the people to tell them a story about what they see.
