The mysteries of growing old.

No one tells you how tough things can get, as it is a struggle between the mind and the body.
031.jpg

A true analogy (in my case) :).
The mind tells you that you are still young and that you can do the things that you have always done.

But the body has a totally different opinion and it starts to go its own way. Almost a divorce between the mind and the body. They have been married for 69 years (soon) and finally decided that they can no longer live with each other. So now the mind is trying to salvage their love by being humble and understanding about the body's issues.
Typically, in any relationship, as soon as the one becomes humble, the other party becomes dominant and now the body forces the mind to take it for all kinds of doctor visits. At times with some many painful results.
So like a sheep that is led to be slaughtered, the mind obeys the body's demands in order to save the marriage.

The latest advice is that I have to walk at least 1 kilometer per day.
So, I obey, but I take my camera with, as I have some interesting 1 kilometer walks.

From the low yellow wall in the first picture to the far end at the mountains that you see below.
035.JPG

We had early rain and it turned out to be a nice and cool morning walk.
017.JPG

Banks of clouds were streaming all over the place.
038.JPG

A flying Black-headed Heron came over.
018.JPG

I was gradually making headway towards the far side at the mountains.
100.JPG

And no way was I going to walk through that water sprayer, so this was the end and time for me to return.
102.JPG

This might be a buzzard, or an eagle flying on the dark side.

On occasion, the sun would light some spots up through gaps in the clouds.

By the time that I got back from the walk, a section of the sky at the north had started to clear.

To start off with, I hate pills and have never taken them in my younger days.
We discovered that it is the side effects of all the pills that I now have to take every day, that cause muscle degeneration, high cholesterol and a resistance to iron absorption in my body. Only to name a few side effects, as there are also other resultant complications. For instance, I take a cortisone tablet every day since 2012 and it's one of the main culprits for the muscle cramps that I get when I walk. We have already cut the pills from 12 to 8 every day, but more of them will have to go and I have already lined up two pills that I will no longer take.
I know how a rat feels in a lab and this rat will get out of the lab :)

Beware of medications and be sure to research the side effects.

And That's All Friends.

I just love the analogy you used with the mind and body. It is just so true. I can't imagine taking 12 pills? Damn. I can't even stomach a paracetamol. I love that field with the flowers plus the clouds over it. A nice contrast if you ask me and it would make for a great fictional picture. Loved this post as always.

Just a humorous idea that invaded my mind !LOLZ

Sheer hell to take so many pills and the area where I took the photos is one of my favorites. Wide open spaces that do not fence one in.

Glad that you loved the post.

At the end of the road there always remains the union of mind and body both have had to forgive each other a lifetime, going through the water sprayer seems fun.

Oh yes, I wrote that piece tongue in cheek to reflect the effects of ageing. As one grows older, the relationship seems to become more important, due to the unexpected effects of ageing on the body.
Taking the long walk back, soaked to skin is not my idea of fun, although the birds like to fly through the sprayers for a quick dry cool off. Unfortunately, I don't have that speed anymore !LOLZ

Getting old is not all it’s cut up to be, Sir Stephen. It’s seems the side effects from pills are worse than the cure. Of course they don’t really cure you but mask the symptoms.

Wonderful photos on your walk. I chuckled at the buzzard on the dark side. 😆

Thanks for popping in Lady Jo.

You are so right about the pills and the side effects can be very dangerous. I had a hemoglobin test done last week and the result was critical. My body cannot absorb iron and so they claimed that it was internal bleeding. So they did a colonoscopy that came out clear with no bleeding.
Now they have booked me for some advanced radio imaging of the small intestine.

But we did some research and 4 of the tablets that I take daily prevents the uptake of iron in the body.
So it's going to be a fight.

Thank you for the compliment and the chuckle 😊
