Trapped at the ocean.
The Cape Doctor, South Eastern wind was blowing fiercely.
Helpless they sat on the old jetty facing the wind and no one could even think of flying in this wind.
A surprise phone call took us down to our part of the ocean to meet for lunch with a friend from another town. It is quite a distance from us he is one of my special old friends from up north before we both relocated down here to the Cape. As we chatted over hamburgers I had a good view of the beach and here is the result.
A Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) surrounded by White-breasted cormorants (Phalacrocorax lucidus) and Cape Cormorant (Phalacrocorax capensis) species.
This crowd of kelp gulls also sat facing the south eastern wind.
A seal took a dive into the choppy waters here.
A wind so strong that it lifted some of the birds.
Passively the Heron sat amidst the cormorants.
Drat, I couldn't get the heron's full stretch here as it is difficult to take photos when the wind slams into one's body.
So, after his stretch I hoped that the heron would try to take off.
But no, he simply changed his position and was still sitting there when we had to go.
Like I said, flying birds at the beach today were very scarce.
My friend will return tomorrow morning and he has invited us for me to take some photos of the sunset later today, as he is on the top floor of a high rise apartment building.
It has a clear view of the ocean and the bonus is that I will not be troubled by the wind.
So please hold thumbs that I will get some good shots.
We hope that you have enjoyed the post.
And That's All Friends!

Great post boss and I love it
These birds are really nice. Lots of beautiful birds together are really amazing. Your friend's apartment is by the sea, so it must have been convenient for you. You have shared some beautiful moment photography of birds. Thanks
Sitting in that screaming wind certainly gave me some good photography moments.
Yes, like I said in the post, the apartment protected us from the wind.
Glad that you liked it.

Is the beach not used by people at this time of the year?
No, people don't go to the beach when the wind is very strong.
