Two birds with one stone and a wild baby baboon love scene.

As I mentioned in my previous post, this was the second place that we went to on the same hazy weather day.
110.JPG

I hoped that the ocean mist would disappear later, as we stopped at the second place, but no luck. So, I had to make another plan to get something nice on my camera. Someone once said that a nature post with no water in it is not a good nature post. I tend to disagree partly, as a full post of the mountains is also a great nature post in my mind. But be it as it may, we all have differences of opinion. In fact, it is the water that gave me the inspiration to get something better than the hazy mountains.
Come and have a look.

You can see here below that the haze still prevented clear shots of the mountains.
139.JPG

So I turned my attention to the water, and here we have the two birds with one stone (click) that I mentioned in the post title.
169.JPG

The one on the post is a Cape Cormorant and the big white bird is a Hadeda Ibis.
170.JPG

I think that the Ibis just wanted to have a look in the water mirror. So, she shook her bum to see if her black skirt would look a bit smarter :)
193.JPG

This young Moorhen was also in action after leaving the water.
131.JPG

Yep, I loved to see that stretch.
136.JPG

Now what do you think this is?
156.JPG

If you thought that it is a Red-knobbed coot, you will be correct.
148.JPG

Remember that Cape cormorant in the two bird photos, well in the meantime it went for a swim and here it was drying out.
165.JPG

This landscape below is the water that I was talking about and you can see that the mountains were still very hazy.
157.JPG

Tomorrow, I will take you to a lookout spot at the top of our mountain pass and I am sure that you will also love the baby baboons.

Some real sibling love, as the little one at the right, that was looking at me, took care of the smaller one.
303.JPG

All of the photos, except the last one was taken on (Saturday) and the last baboon photo was taken on (Sunday), as we took a trip over the mountain to the Elgin Apple Valley. I should have the baboon post ready for Tuesday and a reminder here that you should not miss it.
Unfortunately, we struggle with power cuts every day and on occasion, it is a battle to post and to do all of the comments, votes and replies. So, I have started to schedule the posts so that I have more time to do the rest.

Any case, winter is now upon us here in South Africa and according to the news we will have an increase of power cuts, as people draw more power during the winter with heaters and such. Nowadays we have dropped to the cool low 20s in Celsius degrees, but it doesn't affect me too much, as I will simply continue to go out during the power cuts in any weather conditions. It is the poor families in the townships and the shacks that always worry me.
But such is life, and we do what we can to help.

I hope that you enjoyed the photos.

And That's All Friends.

So much to see, a photographer's dream come true.
Baboons in the wild, not too many people will ever see such a sight.
I've heard that they can be very aggressive.

Thank you and yes, that lookout point is a great place, especially on a clear day.
Only all of the tourists, as they are blown away with the baboon sights.
Yes, only when they feel threatened or scared, especially when there are babies around.
I will explain their aggressiveness in a post tomorrow when someone enter their territories.

Thank you and they have now at the start of winter increased to outage hours to level 6. This means that 2:30 outages will now become 4 hour outages.
The talk is that during the winter peak, we might go to level 8, or worse to level 10.
Such is life here.

If and when they do go top Level 10, you and Marian may have to do a little more snuggling to keep warm.😍

Beautiful photos! Once I heard (or read) that fishermen kept cormorants on their boats to fish for them while they were out to sea. They are not the most beautiful of birds but they hold my fascination none the less. As you are heading into winter, we are headed into spring. The seasons are everchanging 🙂 !LUV

Thank you and yes, the cormorants bring the fish in, and the fishermen use the fish as bait to catch the big ones. At least that's what I seem to remember. They indeed have fascinating habits even if they are not the best looking birds. I love the African Darter (Snake bird) more, as it is bigger than the cormorants in the same family, and they use their sharp pointed bills to spear the fish.

Yep, winter has arrived and we are in the cold 20s Celsius so you guys must be happy about springs arrival. Each season has its own beauty, and they are indeed ever changing 😊 !PIZZA

Were you very close to the monkeys when you took their pictures?
Ain't you scared of them?

Yes, I was close and if you respect them then they don't mind.
Just never try to touch a baby with an adult baboon close by, as you will lose your arm.

When you see all these beautiful landscapes and the lovely birds and even the baboons are cute, one wouldn't think of the hard life of the poor people - it's great that there are people like you who care 😊

Thank you Hannes, we regard all life in nature as cute especially the babies 😉
There are many people here that care and we had many charities, but sadly the numbers are dwindling due to the tough conditions. To make things even worse, some charities rely totally on donations and the funders are drying up. Everyone face tough battles to survive and the conditions are worsening every day. We now have about 12 million people in the country that are un-employed.
A real nightmare!

Blessings!

Almost all babies are cute, even some humans 🤣 !LOLZ

Austria has about 9 million inhabitants - "nightmare" describes a situation with 12 million un-employed people very well.

Hahaha, !LOLZ and sadly some humans stay babies 😜

Yeah, if you put it this way, then it is even more scary, as the old people, the disabled people and the people that do not want to work is not included in this number. This is one of the reasons for our increased crime stats, as people have to steal to live.

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, I think I'm also still in kind of a baby state 🤣 !LOLZ

I understand, and in my opinion there's no easy solution to that because one thing causes the other and vice versa.

Waooo wonderful photography but these two baboon's are looking extra cute. They are looking at you and giving some serious expressions lol. I really enjoyed your details along with photography. Keep sharing!

Thank you for the compliment and we love all of the cute actions of the little baboons. So nice to see the care of the youngster for the little one. I think that behind those serious expressions, they are laughing at us, as we have no tails, and we look like alien ape species in their minds.
