We forgot how to relax.

Today I will show you a family of Oystercatchers at the beach.
314.jpg

Say, what's up doc?, have you never seen two enemies dining together?
Nope, I answered and you guys must have a truce.

For some reason I can no longer just sit in a comfortable chair and to read a book at my leisure. I get that guilty feeling that I should be out there helping others instead of idly sitting around.
So our intended lazy Sunday that I mentioned in the previous post, went out of the window and we went down for a stroll on the beach.
This is our way of relaxing.

The African Oystercatcher (Haematopus moquini) at the left and a Kelp Gull (Larus dominicanus) at the right.
311.jpg

A full picture of this beautiful endangered bird.
252.jpg

Here was the rest of the family scouting the sand for some Sunday picnic treats.
258.jpg

Until another gull came in to spoil their picnic.
302.jpg

So, as the uninvited guest landed, the front two oystercatchers took off.
303.jpg

And here they circled above to disappear from sight.
179.jpg

This is our playground as very few people come here to the "tough" part of the beach.
278.jpg

There are great and very popular beaches at both ends of this rocky patch, but we love it here and we found our Nautilus shells here in the rocks at low tides. Boats give this area a wide berth, as those razor sharp rocks stretch deep into the sea, but the rock ponds are filled with sea life and we have many adventures here.
It takes one's mind off the pressures in life as one continuously stays amazed at the works of our Creator.

And That's All Friends.

I would also stay on this part of the beach - leave the sandy beaches to the people who like it 😎

A stroll at the beach is also nice and relaxing, just another kind of taking it easy, and you have done what you love - photographing nice birds. That's great Zac ☺️

Thank you Hannes,

Yes, I agree with you and the bonus is to find a Nautilus shell, so every time we search the pools in the rocks with no luck. I only have three and now in almost 3 years, it means I might get one every year hahahah.
Everyone is talking about the colors of the flowers carpets that are now appearing in nature all over the area and we will soon drive out for some shots. I love the bright yellows of the Canola landscapes that compliments the green moss on the mountains and the lovely blue skies.
I will look in my files for a photo of the Spring season last year to show you.

Cheers and thanks.

Hi Zac,

I remember this beautiful shell and agree that it's a nice surprise to find one.

I think I remember some spring shots from last year, or we have been talking about it too, and so I am looking forward to this years spring flowers 😊

I'm back at work and till now I have had no break apart from making a short Twitter post, which has become a little habit I think 😉

Good afternoon Hannes,

Thank you and yes, every time that we go there we search for more Nautilus shells.

The photos on FB are magnificent and I cannot wait to get out there.

Glad that you are back at work, as now again time will fly and I will go and look at your Twitter post.

Cheers and thanks.

Hi Hannes, I greeted earlier (I think) 🤣

Sure, you are not glad to be back at work, but you understand the positivity of time flying past quicker when you are busy.
Today is Tuesday and you can already start preparing for Friday 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, you greeted earlier Zac 😁

Time is flying, that's right, but the weekend is still far away: I'm working day&night tomorrow and also from Saturday till Sunday morning ... my week is going to be loooong 😥
But I think tomorrow I might find some time at work to edit my photos and even make a post, maybe.

Weekend is far away??? Tomorrow is Thursday and you said the weekend is far away just a day ago 🤣

Do you mean that you are working double-shifts Hannes?
My mom also used to do that to get extra money as she had 5 mouths to feed, plus the rent and the other costs.

Yeah, let's hope that you can get some time to relax on Hive 😉

If we don't have it wri=ong, it will be the twins birthday soon?
Marian says that it is Friday and she wants to know when it's Monica's (Monika?) birthday.

Cheers and thanks.

Well, I'm working on Saturday till Sunday morning, so my weekend is a little further away, and it's a little bit shorter 😑

No, I'm not working double shifts, but this and next week I'll have 4 shifts all in all because had one week off and too much to do in the office before.

As said in the other reply - no time for anything but for work today. Maybe tomorrow will be the same back in the office.

Well, your Lady Marian knows it perfectly - my kids will be 19 on the 20th :) And my wife Monika's birthday has been on July 2nd. Now, please don't ask me about the birthday of our cats, because I only remember that it was sometime in Spring 2020.

I think that the long weekend has cost you a bit and now the mountain of work takes its revenge 🤣
So they pay you back for your your absence with two short weeks and double time 🤣🤪🤣

Well, let's face the fact that you are there to work afterall.

Cool thanks and a pity that we missed her birthday, but Marian is glad that she won't forget her next 100 years of birthdays 🙂

You can thumbsuck the cats birthdays, as they are also twins and pick any day in spring that you like.

Cheers and thanks.

Yeah, I wouldn't have to do these shifts, but they bring a lot of money. 4 shifts a month brings almost as much as my wife earns in a whole month work.

Yep, I'm there for work, but if stupidness and stubbornness slows you down it's not funny anymore.

Haha, in my eyes only my mother should get the congratulations for my birthdays. She has born me and all I have done for that is ... nothing 🤣

Always great when one has the opportunity to earn some extra income my friend.
I also used to do some private jobs that paid me more than my salary years ago.

You talking about your own stupidness and stubborness I presume ?
Easy to fix, as just sit yourself down and have a serious talk to yourself 🤣
Otherwise there is always our witchdoctor 🤣

Shame Hannes and I suppose your father had nothing to do with it 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Of course I mean my own stupidness and stubborness 🤣 but please forget the witchdoctor with his bones. I'll go to a mirror and have a serious talk 😎

He had the fun and she had the pain ... well, at first she might also have had some fun, I believe

Ah, I see a lot of sense here and the mirror always tells the truth, that's why I avoid the mirror 🤣

Fun? You cannot bake a bun in the oven without the tools my friend.
If she didn't have his tool there would be no mountain goat riding around on a Harley 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

My whole family struggles with this problem: if they "should" relax and spend some time doing "nothing", everyone feels guilty. Due to the family's problem of not doing anything, I fell off the wagon by doing "too little" and it has been biting me in the behind for the last couple of years. I fell into a comfort zone of doing too little and relaxing too much! Awesome pictures as always!

So many have done this "fell into the comfort zone" my friend and in the the meantime the tears in our beautiful country have turned into an ocean.
It's a bitter fight out there and we try our best to stem the tide.

May the ocean of tears not be too salty so that something beautiful can grow from all the misery. And yes, that comfort zone can be one hell of a hole to get out of.

That is also our hopes my friend, but daily that ocean grows bigger and bigger.
Sooner or later a storm will strike the land.
I agree with you about the battle of the comfort zone.

Like we said earlier, the small things we do make a change when enough people help. Let us remain hopeful!

Wow ! I didn't know that these birds are so small compared to seagulls. By the way, we call them the sandpiper-magpie.

Yep, they are endangered here as their nesting places are encroached by human developments.
So, I am thankful that we still have this small family here.
If we are active to protect them, the future children might also see them.
If not, then they will be gone forever.

Glad that you guys also have them.
