Manchester United vs Arsenal: Spectacle or Spectacular?

It feels like yesterday when this was the biggest football game fixture in the whole of England with the biggest names like Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Eric Cantona, Tony Adams, Ryan Giggs, Thiery Henry, Paul Scholes, Patrick Viera, Rooney, Van Persie, Ronaldo and many others. There have also been interesting bouts between these two that has made for great headlines like the Thiery Henry wonder flick, Roy Keane and Patrick Viera tunnel tussle, stopping Arsenal's unbeaten run, Van Nistelrooy's last-minute penalty miss and the eventual confrontation from Arsenal's Martin Keown that many still think was a slight punch etc. Basically, this fixture used to be the talk of the town and so many occassions titles have been decided through this fixture but that no longer seems to be the case in 2021 with every other Premeir league team getting tougher to beat and every fixture considered a big game.

Manchester United take on Arsenal FC today at Old the Trafford today and the atmosphere has been anything but rife, pundits have already predicted it to be a very dull and cagey game as Manchester United are a team in crisis having just sacked their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and appointed interim manager Ralf Rangnick as his replacement, although this match would see United legend Michael Carrick continue in his position as a caretaker manager that he has performed this past week. Arsenal on the other hand seems to be a completely rejigged side after their abysmal start to the season with seven wins in their last ten fixtures and just coming off a two-nil victory at the Emirates as a matter of fact, it seems to be their game to lose.

An Arsenal win would take them to fourth position and put them in a fighting position for Champions League football for next season while Manchester United need this win to avoid a third consecutive home loss since 1963. Also, Manchester United's Christiano Ronaldo is one goal shy from reaching 800 career goals for club and country and this would be such a great fixture to score. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang could be the first Arsenal player to score in three consecutive away appearances against United

This should be a game where both opponents would show respect for one another and not try to push too hard for a goal but it wouldn't hurt to see a little excitement. My prediction for the game is that Arsenal will come out on top by a goal to nil seeing that the odds are in their favour.

So would it be a spectacular game or just another bore fest. Time will tell.
