Beauty in darkness

Today I had to visit a beautiful building, but one that I would normally want distance from. The Champalimaud Centre, near Lisboa, is one of the top centres in the country for cancer treatment. And probably because of that, the building seems to be done in a way to lift up the spirits for the ones needing its services.

The futuristic design is paired with a beautiful indoor garden; seeing a bit of nature is a hundred times better than staring at walls, and the clever use of glass provides a decent view for a good part of the spaces inside.

Buf for me, its the outside that steals the show. Next to the main building, a small ramp leads to a mini lake facing the rio Tejo, where the seagulls bathe.

And after a tiny flight of stairs one can even stroll by the promenade, facing the river, and contemplating the famous bridge that joins both margins and one iconic monument called Torre de Belém.

Does the view gets better? Indeed. Just go to the ramp again... at sunset. The sun reflecting in the small pool and in the small puddles caused by the rain, makes this place amazing at the golden hour.

Watching the sun setting and contemplating the little waves, it's easier to think in bright futures (fortunately, I'm not the one needing the centre's services; and things do look good for the family member needing it so... no sadness here; just wanted to share the beauty.) Enjoy the views! 🙂
