Was it 2 years already?

A few years ago, I settled as one of my life goals to visit a new country every year. And I was managing to do it until covid came; that and my refuse to comply with some of the mandatory nonsense made me wait almost a couple years until I could place this goal on track.

But finally, since three days ago...

Another stamp on the passport: Croatia! It's has been long since I wanted to visit the country, and it hasn't disappointed me so far. I started my journey in Split, and some parts of the city just take you back in time.

No wonder some of the Game of Throne scenes were filmed here! This is Diocletian's palace, the work of an ancient roman emperor that gives Split a huge part of its charm.

The palace is still well preserved, and you can get lost in the countless narrow streets, although some of them are filled with tourist shops and accommodations. Still, it's a must see if you visit the city! The bell tower next to the cathedral, offers a great panoramic view.

To get away of the crowds, a green hill and a great belvedere awaits you in Marjan, just a few minutes walk from the city centre. There, you have nature trails, a great view over the city, and also a gateway to some pretty cool beaches!

Most of the Croatian beaches have rocks and pebbles, instead of the white sand I'm used to. But that doesn't take anything of its charm, and the crystal clear water feels like wonders after a day of walking around!

There are several little beaches surrounding Split, but I found the ones near marjan the coolest, given the nature close by and way less people than the ones near the centre.

Given its location on the dalmatian coast, Split is also a great base for some exploration of the natural beauties of the country. They will deserve a post on their own... but here's a sneak peak:

It feels so good to be back travelling.

Tomorrow, more exploring awaits; I'll try and share a few more highlights in the next days!

It's definitely a country to visit! We got to make the most of our time; and if I recall correctly, you'll know a new country pretty soon too, right? 😉 See you in a few days! !PIZZA
