It has been 17 years since I came to Antalya from my hometown Bartın. I remember getting off the bus from the terminal like it was yesterday. On a warm August evening, I got off the bus wearing a t-shirt that resembled shades of gray and read "free your" in English on the front, and shorts made of thin fabric in dark navy blue. I slammed the wheels of the black suitcase I was carrying in my hand against the high stones and walked to the station.

At that time, municipal minibuses were operating in the city of Antalya. These minibuses, which only waited for fifteen minutes at the terminal stop, sometimes did not even stop when they were full. My friend Serkan, whom I loved very much from Antalya and studied with during my university years, lived in Antalya. He was going to pick me up in front of the Garanti Bank branch in Antalya's Soğuksu neighborhood. The journey from the terminal to the Soğuksu neighborhood took about twenty minutes. When I got off the bus stop, my friend Serkan was waiting for me in front of the bank. He took my suitcase and put it in the trunk of the car he parked at the beginning of the street and took me to his house.

The first cafe we went to with my friend Serkan in Antalya was the cafe "Across the Sea" located in the famous Karaalioğlu park. The cafe, located on the cliffs by the sea, would be very crowded, especially on weekends. Established at the end of the park, in the most beautiful corner of the seaside, the establishment would be open until late at night. The taste of the tea he brought in a special samovar for his customers would give a completely different taste to the sea. This was perhaps one of the most beautiful parks of Antalya. The fact that it is close to the center and has a beautiful view by the sea increased the appreciation of this place. This was the meeting point of the people of Antalya.

Its cafe against the sea resembles a tea garden when viewed from the outside. But when you see the inside of the cafe and the tables and chairs by the sea, you realize that this is a stylish and luxurious establishment. For now, the pool was floating the leaves of different tree species that had been torn from their branches due to the season. Different kinds of trees and plants around it added a different beauty to the landscape.

The cafe facing the sea was the most popular establishment of the Karaalioğlu park. Just ahead of the cafe, the area where special sculpture stones were exhibited shed light on the historical extension of Antalya. This place reminded me of the ancient city of Perge in Antalya. The artifacts in different structures made of stone, which you see below, told both Turkish history and tales that made us think while laughing.

Inside this beautiful park, there are three viewing terraces from which you can look at the sea in the east and west directions. You also have the chance to watch the Antalya sunset and sunrise from these points. When you walk towards the end of this park, the road takes you to Antalya's famous castle streets.

Now I understand better that my friend Serkan always comes here to feel good and relax a little. This beautiful park and cafe will always be remembered as the first park I discovered and visited in Antalya. See you again, bye.

Memleketim Bartın'dan Antalya'ya geleli tam 17 yıl olmuştu. Terminalden otobüsten inişimi daha dün gibi hatırlıyorum. Sıcak bir ağustos ayının akşamında, gri tonlarını andıran ve önünde İngilizce olarak "free your" yazan tişört ile koyu lacivert renkli ince kumaştan yapılmış şortla otobüsten inmiştim. Elimde taşıdığım siyah valizin tekerleklerini yüksek taşlara çarptırarak durağa kadar yürüdüm.

O zamanlarda Antalya da şehir içinde belediye minibüsleri çalışmaktaydı. Sadece terminal durağında on beş dakika bekleyen bu minibüsler, bazen dolu olduklarında duraklara bile uğramazlardı. Antalya'dan çok sevdiğim ve üniversite yıllarında beraber okumuş olduğum arkadaşım Serkan, Antalya'da yaşıyordu. Beni Antalya'nın Soğuksu mahallesinde bulunan garanti bankası şubesinin önünden alacaktı. Terminalden soğuksu mahallesine gelişim yaklaşık yirmi dakika sürdü. Duraktan indiğimde az ilerde bankanın önünde arkadaşım Serkan beni bekliyordu. Elimdeki valizi alarak, sokağın başına park ettiği arabanın bağajına koyarak beni evine götürdü.

Antalya'da arkadaşım Serkan ile birlikte ilk gittiğimiz kafe, meşhur Karaalioğlu parkın içinde yer alan "Denize karşı" kafe olmuştu. Deniz kenarında falezlerin üstünde bulunan kafe, özellikle hafta sonları çok kalabalık olurdu. Parkın sonunda, deniz kenarının en güzel köşesine kurulan işletme, gecenin geç saatlerine kadar açık olurdu. Müşterileri için özel semaverde getirdiği çayın tadı denizde karşı bambaşka bir tat verirdi. Burası belki de Antalyalının en güzel parklarından biriydi. Hem merkeze yakın olması, hem de deniz kenarında güzel bir manzaraya sahip olması, buranın beğenisini arttırıyordu. Burası Antalya halkının buluşma noktasıydı.

Denize karşı kafesi, dışarıdan bakıldığında bir çay bahçesi havasını andırıyor. Ama kafenin içini ve deniz kenarındaki masa ve sandalyeleri gördüğünüzde buranın şık ve lüks bir işletme olduğunu anlıyorsunuz.. Hemen yanı başında bulunan ve suyu aktığında muhteşem görsel şölen sunan mavi havuz, bu kafenin gözbebeğiydi. Şimdilik havuz mevsimden dolayı farklı ağaç türlerinin dalından kopmuş yapraklarını yüzdürüyordu. Etrafındaki değişik türdeki ağaçlar ve bitkiler de manzarasına ayrı bir güzellik katıyordu.

Denize karşı kafesi, Karaalioğlu parkın en gözde işletmesiydi. Kafenin az ilerisinde özel heykel taşlarının sergilendiği alan Antalya'nın tarihi uzantısına ve ışık tutuyordu. Burası bana Antalya'daki Perge antik şehrini anımsatıyordu. Aşağıda gördüğünüz taştan yapılmış değişik yapılardaki eserler, hem Türk tarihini, hem de bizleri gülerken düşündüren masalları anlatıyordu.

Bu güzel parkın içinden, denize doğu ve batı yönünde bakabileceğiniz üç seyir terası bulunuyor. Bu noktalardan Antalya günbatımını ve güneşin doğuşunu izleme şansınız da oluyor. Bu parkın sonuna doğru yürüdüğünüzde, yol sizi Antalya'nın meşhur kale içi sokaklarına götürüyor.

Arkadaşım Serkan' ın kendini iyi hissetmek ve biraz olsun kafa dinlemek için her zaman buraya geldiğini şimdi daha iyi anlıyorum. Bu güzel park ve kafe Antalya' da keşfettiğim ve gezdiğim ilk park olarak hep aklımda kalacaktır. Tekrar görüşmek üzere hoşça kalın.
