[Movie] Apocalypto review -2006
I've been seeing reviews of Apocalypto, and it has been a long time since I watched the movie. I said I would rewatch it before doing my own review. Absolutely, the movie is great, and the storytelling is perfect and very interesting.
Jaguar Paw was living peacefully with his pregnant wife, his child, and the people living around the village. Jaguar and the other men went hunting, and they were all happy, playing with each other. And they returned home to their families. But that peace didn't last for long. At a certain time, a group of warriors attacked Jaguar's village. They killed people and also captured their men. During the incident, Jaguar Paw managed to hide his pregnant wife and his small son in a deep hole. When he returned to help his village people, he tried his best, but he was captured also.
Even when Jaguar Paw was captured, he didn't give up. And he never lost hope because of his wife and son that he hid in the hole. This gave him the faith to stand strong. The interesting thing is that the killing of many in the village was so emotional that it could make someone lose hope. But even then, Jaguar Paw stood strong to see that he kept his family safe. That is so interesting.
Jaguar Paw and the other men that were captured as prisoners were taken to the city, and the journey was very long. Along the way, some died. When they reached the city, Jaguar Paw and his fellow men were given a chance to escape, but they didn't do that willingly. They wanted to kill them. So, they asked them to run if they could. They started with two men. When the men were running, they started throwing arrows at them. This is how the two men were killed. When it reached Jaguar Paw's time to run, he didn't just run out of fear; he ran to escape. Along the way, he was injured by an arrow when they sent one man to go and kill him. Jaguar Paw had the opportunity and killed the man. After he killed the man, he ran into the forest. This is how all the warriors started chasing Jaguar Paw. The forest belonged to Jaguar Paw's father, so he knew the forest very well. This is how he used his strategy to kill some of the warriors inside the forest.
In the process, while they were still attacking him and chasing him, he ran to his wife and checked how she was doing. And he didn't have the opportunity to save her at that time. He made sure he killed almost all the warriors following him before he finally came to his wife and children.
This is the kind of movie you would watch many times and never get tired of watching, because everything about the movie is interesting. Right from the beginning to the end, the storytelling is perfect. The way Jaguar fights for his family is another interesting part. Also, how his wife stands up for her children and doesn't give up is the most amazing part. She was strong for her children.
