Algunos de los monstruos Gladius poseen un poderío excepcional que cualquiera que juegue las brawls seguramente comprobó en más de una ocasión. Desde su introducción en las batallas del ranked estos ganaron un plus en relevancia y cada vez es más usual ver a una de estas criaturas formando parte de la alineación de un equipo en las batallas de Splinterlands; aunque tener la oportunidad de contar con dos al mismo tiempo no ocurre muy seguido. Por mi parte, vi la oportunidad y la aproveché.

Elegí a Relenor Cleaver y Edith Emberstar, que por sí solos sentenciaron la batalla a mi favor. Por supuesto usé a uno de los más recientes invocadores soulbound de Chaos Legion, concretamente a Helios Matriarch, para poder sumar a uno de los Gladius, mientras que al otro pude añadirlo gracias a que, como seguramente quien lea esto estará imaginándose ya, la batalla incluyó el ruleset 'Are You Not Entertained?'

Condiciones de batalla

Para el momento que se desarrolló la batalla rondaba por Oro III. Además de Are You Not Entertained?, también contábamos con la condición Unprotected, que deja a los monstruos desprotegidos de armadura; disponíamos de 43 de mana y solo era posible elegir entre los elementos de Vida, Agua y Dragón (además de las neutrales, claro). En lo que a mí respecta, aquellas las circunstancias perfectas para emplear la potencia de dos Gladius en mi alineación. Sobre todo por la falta de armadura, que facilitaría activar la bonificación por Bloodlust.

Estrategia

Sabía que necesitaría un tanque fuerte por si las rondas se ponían muy intensas. Por ello concluí que la mejor opción sería el Sea Monster ya que su habilidad Heal le ayudaría a soportar más golpes. Así mismo agregué un Wave Brood hasta el final de la alineación, para que su Taunt desviara la atención por algunas rondas; acabó por ser determinante.

El resto lo conformaron Relenor Cleaver, que fue la opción más obvia y la primera carta que elegí, ya que al tener Reach empezaría a atacar desde la segunda posición; incluí un Venari Marksrat por si el rival tenía algún Sniper. La idea era que su efecto de Martyr beneficiara a mis dos Gladius; aunque al final no hizo falta. Con Edith Emberstar me debatí si llevarla hasta la penúltima posición de la fila. Terminé por acomodar un Creeping Ooze allí para retrasar más al enemigo; puesto que ya tendría ventaja de velocidad gracias al efecto de mi invocadora Helios Matriarch, entonces el Ooze sería más favorable aun.

Resultado

Todo terminó con una victoria contundente a mi favor. Wave Brood fue mi única baja (su objetivo era recibir los golpes, así que no fue nada inesperado). La batalla concluyó apenas al amanecer de la ronda tres; decidida casi enteramente por los dos Gladius que, como esperaba, fueron determinantes. Desde mi perspectiva la batalla se decidió en el instante en que mi Emberstar destruyó a la Luminous Eagle del contrario y seguidamente el Cleaver hizo lo mismo con la Time Mage rival.

Two Gladius in ranked Wild and a resounding victory

Some of the Gladius monsters possess exceptional power that anyone who plays brawls has surely seen on more than one occasion. Since their introduction in the ranked battles they gained a plus in relevance and it's more and more usual to see one of these creatures being part of a team's lineup in Splinterlands battles; although having the opportunity to have two at the same time doesn't happen very often. For my part, I saw the opportunity and I took it.

I chose Relenor Cleaver and Edith Emberstar, who single-handedly decided the battle in my favor. Of course I used one of the most recent soulbound summoners from Chaos Legion, namely Helios Matriarch, so I could add one of the Gladius, while the other one I was able to add thanks to the fact that, as anyone reading this will surely be imagining by now, the battle included the ruleset 'Are You Not Entertained?'.

Battle conditions

At the time of the battle it was around Gold III. In addition to Are You Not Entertained?, we also had the Unprotected condition, which leaves the monsters unprotected from armor; we had 43 mana available and it was only possible to choose between the elements of Life, Water and Dragon (besides the neutrals, of course). As far as I was concerned, those were the perfect circumstances to employ the power of two Gladius in my lineup. Especially because of the lack of armor, which would make it easier to activate the Bloodlust bonus.

Strategy

I knew I would need a strong tank in case the rounds got too intense. So I concluded that the best option would be the Sea Monster since his Heal ability would help him withstand more hits. I also added a Wave Brood to the end of the lineup, so that his Taunt would divert attention for a few rounds; it ended up being decisive.

The rest was made up of Relenor Cleaver, which was the most obvious option and the first card I chose, since having Reach would start attacking from the second position; I included a Venari Marksrat in case the opponent had any Sniper. The idea was that its Martyr effect would benefit my two Gladius; although in the end it wasn't necessary. With Edith Emberstar I debated whether to take her to the penultimate position in the row. I ended up placing a Creeping Ooze there to further delay the enemy; since I would already have a speed advantage thanks to the effect of my summoner Helios Matriarch, then the Ooze would be even more favorable.

Resultado

It all ended with a resounding victory in my favor. Wave Brood was my only casualty (his objective was to receive the blows, so it was not unexpected). The battle concluded just at the dawn of round three; decided almost entirely by the two Gladius which, as I expected, were decisive. From my perspective the battle was decided the instant my Emberstar destroyed the opponent's Luminous Eagle and then the Cleaver did the same to the rival Time Mage.
