SME is an organization established by the Government of Bangladesh where various projects and fairs are held with small and medium entrepreneurs. This fair is held in 8 divisional cities of Bangladesh. And within this divisional city, the Rangpur division's SME product fair is being held at Gaur-e-Shaheed Eidgah ground in Dinajpur city. In this fair mainly small and medium entrepreneurs sit with their product stalls. Their products are displayed and sold here. This fair started on 7th March only in Dinajpur city and this fair will end on 23rd March i.e. tomorrow. This fair is held almost every year. This is probably the twelfth edition of the SME Fair. This fair is called the traditional fair and every item displayed in this fair carries the heritage of Bangladesh.

Mostly miniature and cottage industries are displayed at this fair. We saw different types of stalls at this fair. After visiting this fair I saw everything about the fair and was able to divide it into four categories. This is really one's personal opinion. However, I am sharing with you three categories of stalls at this fair from my experience, that is, three types of stalls can be seen in this fair. namely

  • Stalls for small and cottage industries
  • Variety of food stalls
  • A huge open stage in the middle of the fair

Details of this fair

Dinajpur Gore- After going to Shaheed Maidan or Big Maidan, you can see a huge billboard with Bangabandhu's portrait, and next to it there are small fair billboards in the middle of which there is an entrance, and at this gate, there is a gateman. They are keeping a strict watch to prevent any kind of vehicles from entering the fair.

There are numerous stalls at the fair. Among these, the largest number of stalls are for jute handicrafts.
I have taken pictures of some jute handicrafts and am sharing them below. The first image you see is a basket made of jute. The basket is made in the shape of a rabbit. The price of this basket is 340 rupees. There are also many other items made of jute. There are pen holders, wall mats, bags, etc. made of jute. The prices of these products vary. Their price ranges from 80 taka to 1500 taka.

Also, there were some great showpieces made of jute at the fair. Table lamps made of jute are very beautiful and mirror designs made of jute are beautiful. You can see in the picture how beautiful they are. I did not ask about the price of these products.

At this fair, there was a shop for bangles and necklaces. I selected three pairs of bangles to buy from here but didn't buy them because they and I didn't have retail money. The price of each set of bangles is 120 rupees. The price of velvet bangles is relatively low here.

Then there was the food shop. There were stalls of different types of cakes. Besides the cake, There were also stalls for rice cakes and papads. I buy a red velvet cake and papad. Red velvet cake was priced at Tk 150 and papad was Tk 5 a piece. The cake test was not so good.
