FAVOURITE MEAL OF ALL TIME

avatar

Banga soup and starch have been my all-time favorite meal. I can eat this meal thrice a day and won't get tired of eating it. It's the perfect comfort food for me. The soup with a blend of native spices and smooth, sticky starch always leaves me craving more. For those who may not know, It is a Nigerian local dish that's popular with the Urhobo tribe of the Delta state. The soup is made from palm kernel, leaves, and native banga soup spices with any protein of your choice.

The palm kernel is boiled and washed to squeeze out the juice from it. Coupled with the other ingredients it is cooked slowly until it becomes very thick. For it to have that unique taste, the soup is thickened further with a native pot, and it can be served with any swallow of choice but my favorite is combining this soup with starch. Starch is a mixture made from cassava flour and it is prepared with a little oil and water mixed with the starch on medium heat.

Banga soup in a native pot

Growing up in Nigeria, this meal is my all-time favorite in my home, and I couldn't wait to devour it anytime it's been prepared. The aroma of the soup is something to die for. Whenever am craving something traditional that reminds me of home, my go-to meal is Banga soup and starch.

If there is one meal I could eat every day for the rest of my life, that would be Banga soup and starch. There's something about this combination that gives me comfort. It's my go-to food for any time I am sick and can not eat anything.

It is my favorite meal because of the flavor it has, the taste of those local spices, and how creamy it tastes. It excites my taste buds and always leaves me with an unforgettable experience. The starch acts as a perfect combination allowing me to enjoy the richness of the soup.

It isn't just about the taste, it always reminds me of when I was a child because this soup was always prepared in my home while I was growing up. I can still remember how my mum would prepare this soup and tell us the importance of traditional dishes, especially this banga soup, and starch in Urhobo land. Every time I prepare this soup in my home, I am always reminded of the importance of holding onto our cultural heritage.

While it might not be the most glamorous and expensive out there, there is something about this meal that will wow your taste buds. It is a delicious soup that never disappoints.

Banga soup and starch is not just a meal, it is a celebration of culture and tradition. The Urhobos from Nigeria will understand. If you have never tasted this combination before, and you ever have the opportunity to, I think you should do it. This meal doesn't disappoint. Or maybe you are craving something delicious, Give banga soup and starch a try, and who knows it might become your favorite too.

I really love soups especially when they are enjoyed in native pots. My favorite one is groundnut soup.
