[138] Embarking on a search, let's find a solution to unemployment

And it popped up on my blog, I was excited to scan through the weekend's engagement contest post, a routine activity spearheaded by my mentor himself @galenkp, you know I keep wondering if his commitment could be compared but hell no, he's one of a kind.

So after going through the various weekend topics, one in particular got my interest and that is finding a solution to one of the many problems bothering humankind. You know problems never stops, they keep coming on a regular basis, some might be so intense while others are rather mild and could be managed easily.

But then, there's this problem that seems to hook everyone of us right on the neck and that's UNEMPLOYMENT. Yes, I repeat, UNEMPLOYMENT

As a Nigerian, I wouldn't want to speak ill of my country, my motherland but truth be told unemployment is taking a great toll on us, infact it is at its peak. I keep wondering, will things ever get better, when will things be done right.

Research shows that the rate of unemployment tops one-third every year meaning that it increases instead of decreasing

Every year, we have well educated youths as graduates molded by capable higher institutions with the aim of producing great future leaders but reverse is the case as these beings now paste their certificates in their cabs as taxi drivers, hawkers, menial labourers, cleaners, POS operators, clerks, typists and the list continues till eternity. Those who are fortunate to get jobs using their qualifications get meager salary not enough to sustain a healthy living.....so sad.

  • Homelessness
  • Crime
  • Starvation
  • Illiteracy
  • Juvenile delinquency

And many more comes up as a result of lack of job, I'll be glad to explain bit by bit

Individuals who do not have not have jobs are bound to be homeless as they can't afford to put shelter over their heads by either paying their rents or erecting a shelter for themselves, hence they end up being kicked out by impatient house owners

How would one make ends meets when there's no job to hold in to? How would one put food on the table when there's no hope of payment whatsoever. Malnutrition and starvation are caused by unemployment, here I'm speaking with conviction.

Parents who do not afford fees for the payment of their ward's academic activities due to lack of jobs end up breeding illiterates as children who later hunt the society through certain activities due to ignorance.

How about kidnapping and requesting for huge ransoms, picking pockets, stealing, thuggery and other social vices which is rampant amongst our youths? This is all as a result of unemployment making this adage that an idle mind is the "devil's workshop"

Parting words

I would want to solicit to those in high places to please wave off bribery and corruption when it comes to granting employment. They should not employ based on family ties, friendship union, background, lineage etc. Aged ones who are up for retirement should willing give our the mantle to the young ones with vigour to carry on.

Let's say:
No to greed
No to bribery and corruption
No to unemployment
Let's fight together, we're in this together

In Nigeria alone we have more than 1.6m graduate every year coming out to meet their seniors who don't have work. I encourage youth to learn some skill, to be Enterprenures so that they will be but in their personal work not waiting for Job after graduation. I am also saying no to unemployment
