Garden update: What a rapid growth of a friend's cucumber garden

Hey guys, how's your weekend going? For me it's quite stress-free and relaxed, you know what I mean. Tomorrow is gonna be hectic as usual, anticipating that anyways.

It's my first visit here and of course my very first post in #gardenhive community. I seem so interested in nature especially plants and many other things that are agriculture related hence my subscription to the community.

Was lucky enough to arrive at just the right time to meet the ongoing last garden challenge of the year and here I am with an entry with regards to that.

So I visited a friend's cucumber garden few days ago, I was shocked at the rapid development of the cucumbers of which I last saw as baby plants, I guess that was 5 weeks ago. I went visiting only to find grown matured cucumbers ready for harvest.

She had actually started by preparing the land, she went ahead to prepare the seedlings and finally planted them

a little beginning

edible cucumber

She was careful enough to be on the lookout for weeds by using chemicals to eradicate the unwanted plants. Currently we're experiencing sunny season, a period of time when there is less rainfall. Therefore, my friend made sure there is a steady water supply which she did water the plants with(morning and evening).

speedy growth

So I can't doubt the rapid progress of the plants and it's stage of maturity so far, after doing some research work, I got to know that cucumbers mature fast within a time frame of 4-5 weeks and it has no season of its own hence could be planted both in rainy and sunny seasons. Great isn't it?

ready for harvesting

Cucumbers are low calories hydrated vegetables with lots of water aiding digestion, little wonder it's loved by all and sundry. Actually contemplated owning a cucumber garden but it's time consuming and needs appropriate care. My friend spends 11 hours of her day in the garden. I'll make it part of my plans when I'm less occupied with some activities.

This appears to be my entry in the last month garden challenge @riverflows

Oh do they grow straight up? I am going to need to get some stalk things for mine. Lucky I saw this post as mine are starting to shoot up but I haven't had good weather so some have been destroyed :(

The garden is very big and her cucumber plant is doing well. Having steady water in the farm is the best way to go this season. Thank you for sharing

Those cucumbers are so spiky! They are certainly growing well. One thing that worried me is the use of chemicals to weed. It's a shame there isn't another method like mulching you could use.

I love cucumbers for that sweet and sour flavor but also somewhat bitter that gives it a particular charm in summer salads.

Excellent post, regards @pearlie123
