Thus, today, Wednesday, April 10, I find myself on the list of celebrations in #History, which today is exalted to a particular type of #Croissant. It's 'Cinnamon Crescent Day'.

Hay muchas fechas del calendario, en cuanto a Efemérides, que están dedicadas a una cosa particular del tópico de la #Comida, Así, hoy, miércoles 10 de abril, me encuentro en el listado de celebraciones en la #Historia, que hoy se enaltece a un tipo particular de #Croissant. Es el ‘Día de la Medialuna Creciente de Canela’.

The origin of this #sweet bread is not entirely clear, but there are indications of its existence in Europe, before the conquest and colonization voyages of the 15th century. I have a strong suspicion that this bread was derived from the bread they made in Gallic lands, after they expelled the Muslims. I know that the 'Umayyad Conquest of Hispania' is related to the current territory of Spain. But this period of expansion and conquest of the Muslims on the Iberian Peninsula, between the years 711 and 725, also occupied lands to the south of what is currently France.
What is the reason for making the statement? Because although the time of reconquest usually focuses on the events of the kingdoms that made up what is now Spain, it is true that other European kingdoms were conquered by Muslims for centuries. So when Muslim rule fell in France, it is said (I think as a legend) that the bakers made a bread (or a Croissant) in the shape of a crescent, a Croissant, and that it contained pork fat in its recipe. Tengo la fuerte sospecha que este pan se derivó del pan que hicieron en tierras galas, luego de que expulsaran a los musulmanes. Sé que la ‘Conquista Omeya de Hispania’ se relaciona con el actual territorio de España. Pero este periodo de expansión y conquista de los musulmanes sobre la Península Ibérica, entre los años 711 y 725, también llegó a ocupar tierras al sur de lo que actualmente es Francia.

Despite how old the recipe seems to be, I found out today that there was a proposal to celebrate this day, but I don't know the cause or the organization that promoted it. The initiative began in the United States, where the #Cinnamon #Crescent is one of the popular snacks. I think that currently the recipe I read indicates the use of butter instead of pork fat, which makes it possible for a greater number of people to consume it.

A pesar de lo viejo que parece ser la receta, me enteré hoy que la propuesta de celebrar este día, pero no sé la causa o la organización que la impulsó. La iniciativa comenzó en Estados Unidos, en donde la Medialuna Creciente de #Canela es una de las meriendas populares. Creo que en la actualidad la receta que leí indica el uso de mantequilla en lugar de grasa de cerdo, eso hay que sea posible su consumo por mayor cantidad de gente.
Nota al margen. Definitivamente, debo tener una fijación con el tema de la comida, de todo el listado de cosas.
