Hoy me pasó algo que seguro a más de uno también le ha ocurrido últimamente en #Venezuela: el celular vibra, uno mira la notificación sin mucho apuro… y de repente, pum, la realidad te cae encima.

La app que uso para ver el cambio me avisó que el dólar BCV superó los 700 bolívares. Sí, así, sin anestesia. 😅

Y claro, uno se queda viendo la pantalla como esperando que sea un error… pero no.

Ese “bailaito” que ya preocupa

Lo curioso —o más bien lo preocupante— es que esto no viene de la nada.

Ya yo venía notando que esta semana el dólar estaba subiendo más rápido de lo normal. Antes, lo típico era ver aumentos diarios entre 0.5% y 1%, algo que ya de por sí uno siente en el bolsillo.

Pero estos últimos días… la cosa se puso más intensa. Subidas cercanas al 2% diario. Y eso, aunque suene pequeño en número, en la práctica es un golpe constante.

Mientras tanto, el dólar en Binance tiene rato “bailando” en la zona de los 800 bolívares y más allá. Como quien dice una vieja canción: uno marca el ritmo… y el otro lo sigue.

No es solo el dólar…

Y es que este tema no llega solo.

Estamos hablando de un país que hace apenas 16 días vivió un terremoto, que además viene saliendo de fuertes lluvias con inundaciones en los llanos que ocurrieron hace como una semana, y que ya arrastraba una lista larga de problemas desde hace años.

Es como si no diera tiempo de procesar una cosa problemática cuando ya viene la siguiente.

Una colega lo resumió de forma tan sarcástica como acertada:

“En Venezuela alguien está jugando Jumanji… y no nos avisaron”.

Y la verdad… a veces se siente exactamente así. 😅

Entre el ánimo y la realidad

A pesar de todo, yo trato de mantener el ánimo arriba.

No porque la situación lo facilite (para nada), sino porque es lo más sano que encuentro para no dejarse arrastrar completamente por el estrés.

Pero, siendo honestos… no lo pone fácil la realidad.

Cada subida del dólar es un recordatorio de lo frágil que sigue siendo todo.

¿Y hacia dónde vamos?

Hace tiempo había leído una predicción bastante pesimista: que el dólar oficial podría llegar a 1000 bolívares a finales de año.

En ese momento sonaba exagerado.

Hoy… ya no tanto.

De hecho, viendo la velocidad a la que va esto, uno empieza a pensar que esa cifra podría llegar mucho antes de diciembre.

Y ahí es donde uno se queda, medio en silencio, medio resignado… preguntándose qué vendrá después.

Al final, esto no es solo un número que sube. Es una sensación que pesa. Pero bueno… aquí seguimos, echándole ganas, porque no queda de otra. 💪

Today something happened to me that I'm sure has happened to many others lately in Venezuela: my phone vibrates, I glance at the notification without much thought… and suddenly, bam, reality hits me.

The app I use to check the exchange rate notified me that the BCV #dollar surpassed 700 bolivars. Yes, just like that, without warning. 😅

And of course, I stare at the screen hoping it's a mistake… but no.

That “dance” that's already worrying

The curious thing—or rather, the worrying thing—is that this didn't come out of nowhere.

I'd already noticed that this week the dollar was rising faster than usual. Before, it was typical to see daily increases between 0.5% and 1%, something you already feel in your wallet.

But these last few days… things got more intense. Increases close to 2% daily. And that, though it may sound small in number, in practice it's a constant blow.

Meanwhile, the dollar on Binance has been "dancing" around the 800 bolivars range and beyond for some time now. Like an old song goes, "One sets the rhythm… and the other follows".

It's not just the dollar…

And this issue doesn't come alone.

We're talking about a country that just 16 days ago experienced an earthquake, that is also recovering from heavy rains and flooding in the plains that occurred about a week ago, and that has been grappling with a long list of problems for years.

It's as if there's no time to process one problem before the next one hits.

A colleague summed it up as sarcastically as it was aptly:

"Someone in Venezuela is playing Jumanji… and they didn't tell us."

And honestly… sometimes it feels exactly like that. 😅

Between Hope and Reality

Despite everything, I try to keep my spirits up.

Not because the situation makes it easy (not at all), but because it's the healthiest thing I've found to avoid being completely overwhelmed by stress.

But, to be honest… reality doesn't make it easy.

Every rise in the dollar is a reminder of how fragile everything still is.

And where are we headed?

Some time ago, I read a rather pessimistic prediction: that the official dollar could reach 1,000 bolivars by the end of the year.

At the time, it sounded exaggerated.

Today… not so much.

In fact, seeing how fast things are going, one starts to think that figure could be reached long before December.

And that's where one is left, half silent, half resigned… wondering what will come next.

In the end, this isn't just a number going up. It's a feeling that weighs heavily on you. But hey… here we are, giving it our all, because there's no other way. 💪
