It's raining cats and dogs this Sunday, day 884 since that day the start of the #quarantine was announced in #Venezuela due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic, electricity is already starting to be intermittent, so I have to run against time to try to publish.
Today marks the 142nd anniversary of the construction of the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe: On October 15, 1880, the last stone was laid at the top of the 157-meter-high south-west tower of the Cologne Cathedral, in #Germany. The works officially began in 1248, but even before that date there are interesting facts that the place was becoming an important axis of faith and political power, because according to the records, Archbishop Rainald von Dassel took the relics of the Magi to #Cologne in 1164, for that reason the #cathedral became one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Europe and required a new architecture.
I have so much to say about these things, but I have to run while I still have electric service, as I would like to be able to complete this, in short, it is what there is in my beloved Venezuela, you have to do what you can, while you can. Llueve a cántaros en este domingo, día 884 desde aquel día en que se anunció el inicio de la #Cuarentena en #Venezuela por la #pandemia de #Covid19, ya la electricidad está empezando a estar intermitente, así que me toca correr contra el tiempo para tratar de publicar.
Hoy se cumplen 142 años de la construcción de la más grande catedral gótica del norte de Europa: El 15 de octubre de 1880 se colocó la última piedra en la parte superior de la torre sudoeste de 157 metros de altura de la Catedral de Colonia, en #Alemania. Las obras comenzaron en 1248 oficialmente, pero ya desde antes de esa fecha se tienen datos interesantes de que el lugar se estaba convirtiendo en un eje importante de la fe y del poder político, pues según los registros, el arzobispo Rainald von Dassel llevó las reliquias de los Reyes Magos a #Colonia en 1164, por ese motivo la #catedral se convirtió en uno de los lugares de peregrinación más importantes de Europa y requirió una nueva arquitectura.
Tengo tanto que decir de estas cosas, pero debo correr mientras aún tengo servicio eléctrico, como me gustaría poder completar esto, en fin, es lo que hay en mi querida Venezuela, hay que hacer lo que se pueda, mientras se pueda. The reason why I chose the #History ephemeris of the Cathedral has to do with a couple of things, one is that a colleague wrote to me and reminded me of a book we discussed 20 years ago in one of the coffee gatherings that we had at the University, and the other thing is a memory of a photo of a co-worker's trip in 2009 to a scientific event in Paris.
The colleague who wrote to me was referring to the #book "The Mystery of the Cathedrals", a hermeneutic interpretation of the symbolism and hidden contents of religious buildings, written by #Fulcanelli and published in 1926.

La electricidad se fue, pero regresó rápido, eso es un motivo de alegría, sigue lloviendo, así que es posible que me dejen sin servicio eléctrico de nuevo en breve, trataré ahora de complementar lo que estaba escribiendo para que quede una mejor entrada del blog.

As for the souvenir photo of the trip to the scientific event in #Paris, it was an image of a gargoyle from the Cathedral of Nostre Dame de Paris, one that is in a posture that makes it seem a bit ambiguous, it seems bored, pensive, expectant and perhaps a little interested in what is happening in the portion of the city that she has been observing for centuries. I think the nickname that fits that particular gargoyle is: Meditator.
The co-worker used to make jokes about that #gargoyle reminding her of me, certainly she started calling me with the nickname "Gargoyle" since then. My character in person can be something similar to that sculpture, in short, I am given to observation, I can be entertaining, talking, but I tend to get away from people I consider problematic, as if I were fleeing the plague, I can be moody on many occasions, and I am very given to being calm while working, almost without making any noise. That silence, that attitude, in short, all of me, was what made my friend give me that nickname. For years the photo of that gargoyle was as my computer's desktop background at work, it's a shame I don't have it with me, so I looked for one that looked like it to be able to illustrate what I'm saying.

En cuanto a la foto de recuerdo del viaje al evento científico en París, se trataba de una imagen de una gárgola de la Catedral de Nostre Dame de París, una que está en una postura que le hace parecer un poco ambigua, parece aburrida, pensativa, expectante y quizás un poco interesada en lo que ocurre en la porción de la ciudad que ha estado observando desde hace siglos. Creo que el apodo que le queda a esa gárgola en particular es: Meditante.
La compañera de trabajo hacía bromas sobre que esa #gargola le recordaba a mi persona, ciertamente que comenzó a llamarme con el apodo de "Gárgola" desde entonces. Mi carácter en persona puede ser algo parecido a esa escultura, en fin, que soy dado a la observación, puedo ser entretenido, conversando, pero suelo alejarme de la gente que considero problemática, como si yo estuviera huyendo de la peste, puedo ser malhumorado en muchas ocasiones y soy muy dado a estar en calma mientras trabajo, casi sin hacer ruido. Ese silencio, esa actitud, en fin, todo yo, fue lo que hizo que la amiga me asignara ese apodo. Durante años la foto de esa gárgola estuvo como fondo de escritorio de mi computadora en el trabajo, es una pena que no la tengo conmigo, así que busqué una que se pareciera para poder ilustrar lo que cuento.
