It's Sunday, it's day 926 since the #quarantine was announced in this country due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic, daily cases of contagion and deaths associated with the disease are still reported, but after two years most of the people got used to living with that situation.

After sleeping for a few hours I woke up with an unpleasant nightmare, well, it would be more of a weird dream, but the feeling it gave me is what makes it classify as a nightmare. The dream caused me anguish, I was in a dilapidated urban area, desolate, with no one else alive around, and I was wandering among the ruins, at one point in the dream I was shocked to notice that I recognized the place, it was a part of the city of #Caracas in the that I used to spend a long time to go to work... it woke me up.

When I woke up I checked if we had electricity and I was glad that there was, so I started to cook, because there are rain clouds on the way and that means that it is possible that we will have electrical failures soon, as I see it, I have been getting used to it also because I am in a nation that is falling apart little by little and that maybe in time it will be like my dream. I checked the messages and saw that some 300 young people from a border state in the Venezuelan Andes organized to leave the country all together, in order to take care of themselves on the trip, because the overland passage in the #Darien Gap between #Colombia and #Panama It is too dangerous a territory, where rapes, death, assault, robberies and other dangers are a constant thing. Add to that I noticed a tweet that indicated that Venezuela was the subject of the winner of a photography contest and for a moment I was happy, but then I saw that we were an example that made me think of what I saw years ago about poverty African, the photos are a sample of the situation of children in the collapse of a tropical country.

When I saw the news and the networks, I understood that my dream is a projection of my fears, the bad thing is that they are reasonable fears because they are likely, to a certain extent, more likely than I would like. That doesn't help my mood, but I must continue, put myself to lift my spirits, because sinking into the slump of depression is one of the factors that seems to be influencing the increase in suicide cases in Venezuela.

I really wish you to be better than I say, I must leave the record until here because it is better that I publish while the Internet and electricity allow me, besides, I am trying to cook food for the day and my kitchen is electric, so I'm in a race between the keyboard and the pots. I hope we can read each other again another time, with happier themes, and in the near future.

Es domingo, es el día 926 desde que en este país se anunció la #Cuarentena por la #pandemia de #Covid19, aún se reportan casos diarios de contagio y muertes asociadas a la enfermedad, pero ya después de dos años la mayor parte de la gente se acostumbró a vivir con esa situación.

Luego de dormir unas horas desperté con una desagradable pesadilla, bueno, sería más bien un sueño raro, pero el sentimiento que me dio es lo que le hace clasificar como pesadilla. El sueño me produjo angustia, estaba en un paraje urbano derruido, desolado, sin nadie más vivo alrededor y yo vagaba entre las ruinas, en un momento del sueño me sacudió notar que reconocía el sitio, era una parte de la ciudad de Caracas en la que yo solía pasar hace tiempo para ir al trabajo... me despertó la impresión.

Al despertar revisé si teníamos servicio eléctrico y me alegré de que hubiera, así que comencé a cocinar, pues hay nubes de lluvia en camino y eso significa que es posible que tengamos fallas eléctricas en breve, así como lo veo, me he ido acostumbrando yo también a que estoy en una nación que se va cayendo a pedazos de a poco y que puede que en un tiempo sea como mi sueño. Revisé los mensajes y vi que unos 300 jóvenes de un estado fronterizo de los Andes Venezolanos se organizaron para irse del país todos juntos, a fin de cuidarse en el viaje, porque el paso por tierra en el Tapón del Darien entre #Colombia y #Panamá es un territorio demasiado peligroso, donde las violaciones, la muerte, los asaltos, los robos y demás peligros son cosa constante. Suma a eso que me fijé en un tweet que indicaba que Venezuela fue el tema del ganador de un concurso de fotografía y por un momento me alegré, pero luego vi que éramos un ejemplo que hacía pensar en lo que yo veía hace años sobre la pobreza africana, las fotos son una muestra de la situación de la infancia en el colapso de un país tropical.

Cuando vi las noticias y las redes, entendí que mi sueño es una proyección de mis miedos, lo malo es que son miedos razonables por ser probables, en cierta medida, más probables de lo que me gustaría. Eso no ayuda a mi estado de ánimo, pero debo seguir, ponerme yo mismo a subirme el ánimo, porque hundirse en el marasmo de la depresión es uno de los factores que parece estar incidiendo en el incremento de casos de suicidio en Venezuela.

De verdad te deseo que tú estés mejor de lo que yo cuento, debo dejar el registro hasta acá porque es mejor que publique mientras el Internet y la electricidad me lo permiten, además, estoy tratando de cocinar la comida para el día y mi cocina es eléctrica, así que ando en carrera entre el teclado y las ollas. Espero que podamos leernos de nuevo en otra oportunidad, con temas más alegres y en un futuro cercano.

Yes, depression is a very bad thing, I've had a couple of depressive episodes in the past and things turned ugly. Ugly to the degree that one now says in the present: "I'm glad I came to my senses and I'm still alive"

Yes, depression is a very bad thing, I have had a couple of depressive episodes in the past and things were unpleasant.

I wish that things get better for everyone and that these weird dreams are forever just dreams, that those ugly post-apocalyptic scenarios never come to pass.

Yes, it's very hard to keep it together when so many outside factors show ambiguous things. The winner of the photography contest is one of them. On the one hand, both the photo and his win are very good and great. But I think it would be better if they were photos of happy people...

Thanks for commenting, certainly I would like the photographs to be of happier things. In Venezuela there are a good number of natural attractions and places of great beauty, there are also celebrations and festivals in which people show a happy atmosphere. But, as a matter of documentation, I cannot deny that the economic and social crisis has caused 94.6% of us to be classified as poor and that extreme and miserable poverty reaches 75% of the population, that is a reality that I can deny and a documentary, as a piece of non-fiction communication, has to adhere to the reality that it seeks to capture.

In all this crisis, it is true that children and the very elderly are the groups that are having the worst time.

I hope that, somehow, things get better soon.

Ciertamente que la desgracia de un país es algo triste.

En estos casos en que la desgracia no es principalmente por una catástrofe natural, sino producto de la acción humana de los dirigentes del mismo país, hay que reconocer que la tristeza que produce se mezcla con furia e indignación.

Yo también deseo que las cosas mejoren pronto.

It is quite sad how things have degenerated in most countries of the world. But I pray that sooner rather than later things should change.

I am trying to cook food for the day and my kitchen is electric, so I'm in a race between the keyboard and the pots.

I also hope that everything improves, despite the fact that the announcements that we are heading for a global economic recession are very credible, added to the tensions due to armed conflicts and the emergence of diseases (which spread faster thanks to our means of transportation and the mobility of people)… Well, all this adds up to the fact that I am worried.

I can't do much more than live one day at a time and move on, it's all I can do, survive and move on.
