I am finishing the day Saturday. It is the last Saturday of November and there are about 35 days left to finish this year. We had cold and rainy weather, so it wasn't strange that the electrical service failed a few times, and we were left in the dark for some time during the day, but I must be glad that it wasn't too many hours, and we were able to cook. Now that it's night, I can work and post the day's log as well.

It was a calm day in general lines, it is a weekend that has not treated me badly in general lines. It was the birthday of a close cousin and by good fortune we managed to communicate and share with him, even if it was through WhatsApp, we already agreed to see each other in person and spend some time together another day. When reviewing the ephemeris of #History for my record today, I came across an international day promulgated by #UNESCO that is dedicated to exalting a tree and its symbolism, I did not expect that, but I found it interesting, the tree in matter has uses in cooking, cosmetology, pharmacology and (as I recall) had some medical use. Today is World Olive Day.

This tree is quite symbolic for the cultures that descend from or are related to the Greco-Roman heritage and their crops in the areas close to the Mediterranean Sea. For my people, presenting a branch of the tree is a sign of negotiation, of peace, a desire for concord and search for wisdom.

On the official website of the celebration, the organization dedicates some very interesting words to it, you can consult it at https://www.unesco.org/en/days/world-olive-tree, of these things that are said on that website, I would like to point out how interesting it is that it is a tree that is very resistant to damage, with a high longevity and a continuous greening even after suffering from a fire. A living organism of very respectable tenacity.

Personally, this tree reminds me of my paternal grandmother, the person who raised my siblings and me, because of her habit of making us drink a spoon of olive oil or using preparations with this oil to rub our skin. It also reminds me of my older aunt, now deceased, with whom I got used to buying the best quality oil we had on the market for her #meals, since it was part of her #diet on the recommendation of a #nutritionist, and it was working well for her for years.

Those were different times, my income was enough to buy medicines and diet recommendations and I collaborated with her in what she left, my aunt was a working woman, she had started teaching classes since she was a very young teenager, she was low height and was hired as a teaching assistant at an adult night school. She said that it was a very strange experience teaching people who had daughters her age, and since she was short, she looked even more of a little girl. But she was a good teacher, she became a professional and studied until a university degree, later working as a teacher until her retirement. Even after retiring, she did not stop, she still had energy and the amount of her retirement pension was not very good either, so she worked for private high schools and her last job was as Director of a military high school that had quite a history, according to I remember.

Well, I strayed from the subject, it happens that thinking about the day and looking for a meaning that is personal to me leads me down these paths. It is time for me to finish the publication, I say goodbye wishing you that you are well and that we can read each other another time.

Excellent review of today's ephemeris, I really did not know that this tree had a special day, olive oil is used for many things, especially in the preparation of food, besides being very healthy.

It is a very useful tree, certainly the use I was most familiar with was in the kitchen, but as I grew up I learned that it had traditional uses in other things.

I was also surprised when I found out that the olive tree had an international day and that this day had been established by UNESCO, in short, that I enjoyed that record, because I learned something new.

I would like to get in the habit of consuming olive oil every day, I've read that the health benefits are fantastic.

Among my people it has a very good reputation, but I always recommend consulting a nutritionist or specialist in the area first, because even if something is very good in general, we have to find out if it is good for us or if we have to consume a different amount than the one most people.

What a nice day in history. We need to extend an olive branch to all the waring factions of the world 🌎. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hi, Pedro.

What a huge trunk on this gorgeous old olive tree!  How old is this tree do you think?

What an amazing Olive tree.

Barb :)

I couldn't say the age of the tree, I am one of the people who always miscalculates the age of people and animals, imagine that with plants I am even worse at guessing the ages correctly (personal laughter).

I would think that the tree is over a century old, but I dare not assure anything, it is a very long-lived type of plant, so it would not be unusual for it to be over 100 years old, however, as I said, I am very bad at calculating ages.
