Experimental Cake + Torta Experimental [Eng+Spa]
Shopping Wednesday. This March 20, I went with my brother to buy some groceries, taking into account that next week there is a three-day religious celebration, and the vegetable fair where we usually buy will not be working. The weather today was warm and it was a nice day. There is not much more to tell about this point.
Typically, I make the record of the day focusing most of the content on my comments on one of the anniversaries that correspond to each day. That's because it frequently happens that my #life goes by in a fairly calm way. However, today I have to do the registration in a slightly different way. It's not that anything bad happened, I just wanted to share a little about the cake I was making last night.

Miércoles de compras. Este 20 de marzo fui con mi hermano a comprar algunos víveres, tomando la previsión de que la semana próxima hay una celebración religiosa de tres días, y la feria de hortalizas en la que solemos comprar no estará trabajando. El clima de hoy estaba cálido y fue un día agradable. No hay mucho más que contar de este punto.
Usualmente, hago el registro del día enfocando la mayor parte del contenido en mis comentarios sobre alguna de las efemérides que se corresponden a cada día. Eso es porque suele pasar que mi #vida transcurre de una manera bastante calmada. Sin embargo, hoy me toca hacer el registro de una manera un poco distinta. No es que pasara algo malo, simplemente quería compartir un poco acerca de la torta que estaba haciendo ayer en la noche.

In the photo, it looks better than I expected. This is the cake that, in yesterday's post, I was complaining that it didn't turn out very well. After letting it cool down and spending some time in the refrigerator, I managed to unmold it fairly cleanly.
I had already made the post that day, so I couldn't add these comments then. Anyway, baking this cake without an oven, in a Bain de Marie, turned out better than I initially thought.
However, a problematic detail is that the texture and crumb did not turn out in a way that convinced me. But, that is most likely due to the ingredients. It turns out that this is not actually a wheat flour cake only. Another previous day, I had cooked some #sweet rice pudding, but we didn't consume it very quickly, and I was worried that it would go to waste. So (when I was planning to make a #cake) I thought of blending this sweet rice and using it as part of the mixture to the cake.

En la foto se ve mejor de lo que yo me esperaba. Esta es la #torta que, en la publicación de ayer, yo me quejaba de que no me había quedado muy bien. Luego de dejarla que bajara su temperatura, y pasar un tiempo en el refrigerador, logré desmoldarla de una manera bastante limpia.
Ya había hecho la publicación de ese día, así que no podía agregar estos comentarios entonces. En fin, que la cocción de esta torta sin horno, en Baño de María, resulto mejor de lo que yo creí en un principio.

The result has a good flavor, but due to its very composition, it does not rise, it does not form a crumb like wheat cakes, and its density is quite high. It's good that the flavor is still sweet and pleasant, plus it is a type of #tart that is filling, you only eat one slice, and it leaves you satisfied for a long time.
So my experiment of making the cake without an oven, plus my experiment of adding sweet rice to the recipe, well, gave a result that is edible, and looks good in general terms. But, it leaves me a little dissatisfied with its consistency and how it looks inside once I cut the portions.

El resultado tiene buen sabor, pero por su misma composición, resulta que no levanta, no forma una miga como las tortas de trigo, y su densidad es bastante alta. Es bueno que el sabor siga siendo dulce y agradable, además de que es un tipo de #torta que es contundente, solo comes una rebanada y te deja saciado por un buen rato.
Así que mi experimento de hacer la torta sin horno, más mi experimento de agregar arroz dulce a la receta, pues, dio un resultado que es comestible, y tiene buena apariencia en líneas generales. Thank you. It actually tastes good, it's just that it's a little dense.
It seems to me that it had a flavor reminiscent of rice pudding, but it has the texture of a moist cake, plus a density that means that one slice is enough to leave me satisfied for a while.
