Saturday, and it is the last of the month because we are already on March 30. A day that had no complications. My #life has been relatively calm today, and there have been no notable incidents to comment on. Apart from being a day that has a religious celebration associated with it, nothing has really happened in my personal affairs.
These kinds of days are pleasant to me. But it would be very boring to keep a daily log with only these descriptions. That is why I always try to accompany the record with some comments about some #History Anniversaries for the day. In this case, I came across a celebration established by the United Nations General Assembly, as International Day, in 2022 (December 14), but which was celebrated for the first time in 2023, on a day like today.
It is a fairly recent celebration, it is 'International Day of Zero Waste'.

Sábado, y es el último del mes porque ya estamos a 30 de marzo. Un día que he tenido sin complicaciones. Mi #vida ha estado en calma relativa hoy, y no han pasado incidentes llamativos que comentar. Fuera de ser un día que tiene una celebración religiosa asociada, no ha pasado en mis asuntos personales nada en realidad.
Esta clase de días me son agradables. Pero sería muy aburrido llevar un registro diario con solamente estas descripciones. Es por eso que siempre trato de acompañar el registro con algunos comentarios sobre alguna de las Efemérides de la #Historia para el día. En este caso, me encontré con una celebración establecida por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, como Día Internacional, en 2022 (14 de diciembre), pero que se celebró por primera vez en 2023, un día como hoy.

This day is only in its second celebration. At the time (and to date), the initiative was supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). These #UN organizations aimed to increase the visibility of ecological issues and the topic of: #Recycling, #Reuse and #Reduction of consumption of raw materials.
#Ecological issues have gained great importance since the last third of the 20th century in the West, when we have to face the fact that unbridled and devastating development does not produce 'sustainable development'. This clashes with the predominant economic conceptions in recent centuries, but it was necessary to aim for long-term benefits. The destructive and parasitic vision that was carried out was similar to that of a virus, which consumes and kills its environment, then having to look for a new environment to prey on and destroy. It could provide benefits in the short term, but it annihilates any future of the specie human. It is a path that only leaves death to future generations.

En su momento (y hasta la actualidad), la iniciativa contó con el apoyo del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA) y el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para los Asentamientos Humanos (ONU-Hábitat). Estos organismos de la #ONU se proponían aumentar la visibilidad de los temas #ecologicos y el tema de: #Reciclaje, #Reutilizacion y #Reduccion de consumo de materias primas.
Los temas ecológicos cobran gran importancia desde el último tercio del siglo XX en occidente, cuando nos toca encarar que el desarrollo desaforado y devastador no produce un ‘desarrollo sostenible’. Esto choca con las concepciones económicas predominantes en siglos recientes, pero tocó apuntar a beneficios de largo plazo. La visión destructiva y parasitaria que se llevaba era similar a las de un virus, que consume y mata su medio, teniendo luego que buscar un nuevo medio ambiente para depredar y destruir, podría dar beneficios a corto plazo, pero aniquila cualquier futuro de la especie humana. Es un camino que solo deja la muerte a las generaciones futuras.

In my case, I can say that at home, we have an old habit of recycling everything we can. So I guess we can celebrate this day quite consistently. By the way, the international organization's proposal to position publication labels for this day, in different languages, caught my attention: #DiaCeroDesechos, #SinContaminacionPorDesechos, #BeatWastePollution & #ZeroWasteDay.

En mi caso, puedo decir que en casa tenemos una vieja costumbre de reciclar todo lo que podemos. Así que supongo que este día lo podemos celebrar con bastante coherencia. Por cierto, me llamó la atención la propuesta del organismo internacional para posicionar etiquetas de publicaciones para este día, en distintos idiomas: #DiaCeroDesechos, #SinContaminacionPorDesechos, #BeatWastePollution & #ZeroWasteDay.

Reaching zero waste generation seems like a utopia to me, but it is a desirable thing, and it is worth working to reduce the amount of waste that is generated.

Reducir los desechos y reusar es una buena actitud. Pero no creo que lleguemos al desperdicio cero. Espero estar en un error, y que se logre pronto.
Reducir los desechos al mínimo es una buena idea, pero eso de llevarlo a cero, tienes razón de que suena a utopía.
