Mainstream Freewrite 2/20/24

Mainstream news, artists, films and restaurants have been some of the most fun and fulfilling I have encountered.

As a young man, I was searching for avantgarde adventures and novel ecperiences. I shunned the mainstream, and decided to pursue rare and worldly experiences instead.

Mainstream is often reviled, but it's honestly often the best culture has to offer. I spent time looking for the venues off the beaten path, and it's overrated and pretentious half the time. I grew up, and I am glad I saw the novel.

Mainstream artists and movies can be cliche and blase. The over-hyped and over marketed artists often underdeliver and oversell. It's all marketing in the mainstream. But it's worth it to know the mainstream is the mainstream for a reason, so act accordingly.

Shooo... so many contradictions here I'm not sure where to go!

Um... Yes. Some of the avante garde stuff is super pretentious and funny :D I went through some years at art school and we only watched indie films. And art films. Man shit got weird!

But... some of the thinking was amazing!

It'd be cool to see those kind of stories but with mainstream/hollywood backing.

Of course... then the producers would wanna "soften" the thinking and make it more approachable - wider audience - more money.... eh.... loss of art and thinking/concept, really.

Totally agree with you knowing your audience and...well... situation/environment in truth and reality. Brilliant! Yes... this way you are able to make more constructive decisions, with awareness and foresight. And respect! Of course <3
