¡Saludos! Soy Instructor y practicante de Karate, y hoy aprovecharé de mostrarles un poco de lo que fue el pase de grado o de cinta de la academia donde aún formó parte como atleta.

Greetings! I am an Instructor and Karate practitioner, and today I will take the opportunity to show you a little of what was the grade or tape pass of the academy where he was still part as an athlete.

El día comenzó bien temprano, nos dirigimos a "Cotiza", un lugar cerca del centro de Caracas que da inicio a nuestro querido Waraira Repano (Ávila). Desde allí empezó la prueba. Fuimos subiendo kilómetro tras kilómetro, seguido de grandes y pequeños atletas. La vista es impresionante; la ciudad se ve indefensa desde las alturas...

The day started very early, we headed to "Cotiza", a place near the center of Caracas that begins our beloved Waraira Repano (Ávila). From there the test began. We went up kilometer after kilometer, followed by athletes big and small. The view is breathtaking; the city looks defenseless from the heights ...

Al llegar a la parte conocida como "Los Venados", nos dispusimos a desayunar y cambiarnos. Comenzó el exámen físico tiempo después, aunque a decir verdad, para mí toda esa subida ya era parte de dicha prueba. 20 minutos de ejercicio continuo y variado, fueron suficientes para hacer correr el sudor y las lágrimas de algunos.

Upon reaching the part known as "Los Venados", we got ready to have breakfast and change. The physical examination began some time later, although to tell the truth, for me all that climb was already part of said test. 20 minutes of continuous and varied exercise was enough to make sweat and tears flow for some.

Una carrera por tiempo fue la marca final del exámen físico y el pitazo oficial que daba la señal para cambiar sus uniformes por el blanco karategui tradicional, ideal para la evaluación de los Katas y defensa personal. Comenzaron, como en cada parte del evento, el grupo de niños para luego pasar al de adolescentes y adultos.

A race by time was the final mark of the physical examination and the official whistle that gave the signal to change their uniforms for the traditional karategui white, ideal for the evaluation of Katas and personal defense. They began, as in each part of the event, the group of children and then went on to that of adolescents and adults.

Los Katas son esquemas de peleas imaginarias que conllevan una tremenda concentración y destreza, dónde el karateka muestra su potencial con las técnicas tradicionales del arte, y está de más decir que es una prueba de fuerza, equilibrio, velocidad y espíritu.

Katas are imaginary fighting schemes that involve tremendous concentration and skill, where the karateka shows his potential with the traditional techniques of the art, and it goes without saying that it is a test of strength, balance, speed and spirit.

Luego de la evaluación de katas y defensa personal viene, como es costumbre, la última prueba, y es el Kumite (combate). Es en este último peldaño que el karateka debe usar todas sus energías restantes y todo el conocimiento adquirido fuera y dentro del dojo, para demostrar que es merecedor de su nueva cinta o grado.

After the evaluation of kata and personal defense comes, as usual, the last test, and it is the Kumite (combat). It is in this last step that the karateka must use all his remaining energies and all the knowledge acquired outside and inside the dojo, to demonstrate that he is worthy of his new belt or degree.

Culminadas las pruebas todos nos vestimos de blanco(karategui) y nos disponemos a realizar la ceremonia de cierre y otorgar el nuevo cinturón a cada atleta, no sin antes dar nuestras palabras de aliento y consejos a cada quien. 🥋🙏🏼

After the tests, we all dress in white (karategui) and get ready to perform the closing ceremony and award the new belt to each athlete, but not before giving our words of encouragement and advice to each one. 🥋🙏🏼
