Polish coins from World War II.

The 1939 10 zloty coin - a coin of the Second Republic. It was put into circulation on December 5, 1934 by decree of the Treasury Minister on November 24, 1934. Its mintage is unknown. Unofficial sources indicate that 1,200,000 pieces were produced.

Moneta 10zł z 1939 roku - moneta II RP. Została wprowadzona do obiegu 5 grudnia 1934 r. rozporządzeniem Ministra Skarbu z dnia 24 listopada 1934 roku. Jej nakład jest nieznany. Z nieoficjalnych źródeł wynika, że wyprodukowano jej 1.200.000 sztuk.

The coin was outlawed rather quickly, and its possession was punishable by imprisonment. Its production was withdrawn on the basis of a decree issued by the Reich Ministers of Economy, Finance and the Interior on November 22, 1939, during the period of the General Government, according to which coins minted in silver during the Second Republic had to be compulsorily exchanged for paper money.

Moneta dość szybko została zdelegalizowana, a za jej posiadanie groziła kara pozbawienia wolności. Wycofano jej produkcję na podstawie rozporządzenia ministrów gospodarki, finansów i spraw wewnętrznych Rzeszy wydanego 22 listopada 1939 roku w okresie Generalnego Gubernatorstwa, według którego monety bite w srebrze w okresie II Rzeczypospolitej należało obowiązkowo wymieniać na pieniądze papierowe.

The period of the coin's production was a difficult and unpleasant period for Europe, especially for Poland. In 1939, on September 1, Germany attacked our country so starting World War II. Officially, it was a world war however, there are many indications that it was a war declared against Poland. German action before 1940 did not extend beyond Poland. Just over two weeks after the German attack on September 17, 1939, the Second Republic was also attacked from the east by the USSR, implementing the secret provisions of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

Okres produkcji monety to okres ciężki i przykry dla Europy, a zwłaszcza dla Polski. W 1939 roku 1 września Niemcy zaatakowali nasz kraj tak rozpoczynając II wojnę światową. Oficjalnie była to wojna światowa jednakże dużo wskazuje na to, że była to woja wypowiedziana przeciw Polsce. Działanie niemieckie przed 1940 rokiem nie wykraczały poza Polskę. Nieco ponad dwa tygodnie po ataku Niemiec 17 września 1939 roku II RP została zaatakowana także ze wschodu przez ZSRR, realizujący tajne zapisy paktu Ribbentrop-Mołotow.

Obverse

In the center is placed the emblem - a crowned eagle, below it the year of minting, around it the inscription "THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND", and at the bottom the inscription "10 ZŁOTY 10".

Awers
W centralnym punkcie umieszczono godło – orła w koronie, poniżej rok bicia, dookoła napis „RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA”, a na dole napis „10 ZŁOTYCH 10”.

Reverse

The reverse features the left profile of Marshal Jozef Pilsudski. At the bottom left, below the beard, the Kościesza coat of arms - the mark of the State Mint in Warsaw, and along the rim under the profile a faint, almost illegible name of the designer. The designer was Mr. Stanislaw Kazimierz Ostrowski.

Rewers
Na rewersie umieszczono lewy profil marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego. U dołu, z lewej strony, poniżej brody, herb Kościesza – znak Mennicy Państwowej w Warszawie, a wzdłuż obrzeża pod profilem słabo widoczne, niemal nieczytelne nazwisko projektanta. Projektantem był pan Stanisław Kazimierz Ostrowski.

This is my first silver coin from the World War II era. That's why I have a fondness for it.

Jest to pierwsza moja srebrna moneta z czasów II Wojny Światowej. Dlatego mam do niej sentyment.

I assess the state of preservation as very good. The coin still has a nice luster and the details are clearly visible. I bought it from a collector who carefully stored it.

Stan zachowania oceniam jako bardzo dobry. Moneta ma wciąż ładny połysk, a detale są dobrze widoczne. Kupiłem ją od kolekcjonera, który starannie ją przechowywał.
