ADMINISTERING PROPER HEALTH CARE FOR BIRDS DURING THE RAINING SEASON.

Poultry farming is a very complicated cameo, such that rearing Broiler birds attract that you as a farmer has to adjust to the weather conditions whereas you are located. To be precised, I am based in the north central part of Nigeria, Ilorin, Kwara state. This is a state that has many mixture of tribes situated in one state which typically consists of the Yorùbá, Baruba,Nupe, Tapa People and many of them.

The weather condition here doesn't really plays any tricks, we only have the raining and dry season. The only tricky stuff about dry season is that we experience harmattan period in between. During this dry season, it's very easy to rear birds because everywhere is always dry, including the birds feces that also dry quickly in no time. You can go for a very long time without changing the birds feces even if it's messed with their feces because it's always dry and hardly will you experience any disease cameo. Aside that during the dry season which there's usually occurrence of heat that is unfriendly to older birds.

But in the raining season, it's always a different ball game. This is a period that I involve myself more in taking care of these birds. During the raining season, the birds pen is always messed up, any little drop of their feces, before you know, it have messed up the whole floor. This alone can cause coccidioidomycosis, bizarre dropping from the birds and many more unwarranted diseases. The raining season is a season that requests more time, energy and strength from the owner of the Farmer.

Raining period is also one hell of a period that add up to cost of production of producing a batch of birds. This period requires you buy some medications for the birds yo stand the test of the raining period but in the dry season you might not even spend a penny on medication before finishing a batch.
