I want to use this medium to greet all great Hivers. How has been your day so far, hope you are all doing good? I'm positive minded that it's all well and fine.

Right from time, I have been wondering why the cost of governance is so attractive in Nigeria system of government. In Nigeria system of government, we have three tiers of government; the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. And if I should start stating the amount of capital these tiers of government consume financially some of you would be amazed and be disappointed at the same time.

First and major problem concerning Nigeria as a federal state.

Of course, Nigeria is a country that practice federalism (federal system of government) and any country that practises federal system of government means such country share power between the central and the state government. In a federal state, you are bound to have three branches of government;the legislature, the executive and the judiciary with each branch with its own portfolio and budget. Let's take for example, the legislative branch of government alone has two houses, the lower house and the upper house. The lower house consists of 360 members while the upper house consists of 109 senators.

All of these people carry their own salary, budget, allowances and the likes. Same thing goes with the executive and the judiciary. Nigerian politics pattern is way too attractive and that's why money and fund are being embezzled without remorse. So the cost of governance is one major problem we are facing economically in Nigeria. What the branches of government are consuming from the Nigeria annual budget is what I tag extortion.

As it's known that cost of governance is the capital meant to smooth run the affairs of the country or state. In Nigeria case, it's designed to be way too attractive and it's preaching against the equitable distribution of wealth. That has been the major problem Nigerians are facing in Nigeria federal system of government.

What's equitable distribution of wealth?

This is a process where by the wealth of a nation is equally distributed. When the wealth of a nation is equally distributed among lower, middle and the upper class. But in the case of Nigerian policy, the number of people getting richer are way below lower than the ones getting poorer. It's more like small amount of people are getting richer while larger number of people are getting poorer.

If you check very well, the number of people that are rich in Nigeria are mostly politicians through money laundering, mismanagement of fund and embezzlement. So I'm saying is the cost of governance is one of the major problems that's wrecking our economy because the capital in running the affairs of government is just too high. The funniest part is most people go into politics just to become rich because they know will embezzle because having the masses at heart is not even in their agenda.
