WHY FEEDING BROILER BIRDS AFTER 10 WEEKS IS NOT FEEDING EFFICIENT ANYMORE WHICH IS NOT ADVISABLE FOR COMMERCIAL BUSINESS PURPOSE.

Basically, when you have the intention to go into any kind of business whatsoever either on large scale or small scale, it's advisable to know pros and cons of such business. There are numerous reasons why some businesses fail to grow or go into liquidation just because the owner has failed to make proper findings on the business such has embarked on.

Poultry farm business is very logical and there are lot of things attached to it that are importantly needed to be put in place in other to make maximum gain or profit. Aside from setting up the business, talking about the management aspect, the poultry farm business capital, feed stockpiling and all that, there is another thing that is very important which is the "feeding pattern plus feeding efficiency".

On this particular term, two things are important which are; broiler birds body weight gain and the unit of feed that's consumed by the broiler chicken. So,in this context, I will like to explain succinctly to details what these two terms depict in simple sentences and why the feed efficient only matters before 10 weeks. It's paramount to know about the feed efficiency because it usually tells on the profit outcome of the poultry farm business.

The meeting point of the two separated factors;body weight gain and the unit of feed consumed.

If you go around reading any related about livestock poultry farming, there are calculated amount of weight that some number of birds should accumulate when they eat certain bags of feed for a particular time and period. Let us assume 50 birds eat 1 bag of feed in 7 days, there is a certain average weight the 50 birds will accumulate within 7 days. Though we have different producers of all these feeds if they are used on the same number of birds, the difference will just be a slight one.

Now, on the feeding efficiency part, the rate at which broiler birds accumulate weight at their former stage is more rapid than in their latter stage. I can categorize their early stage to be from day old to 6 to 7 weeks. My birds of 7 weeks average weight should be around 3.9kg to 4.1kg(Note that 50 birds will eat 9 bags of feed from day old to 7 weeks). That's how fast they can accumulate such amount kg weight in their early.

So in lieu of what I have said in the above paragraph, leave the same number of birds from 7 weeks to maybe 10 weeks or 11 weeks, you will observe that the way they accumulate their weight will drawn back, not that they won't add more weight but it would be slower and they would be eating more which I consider a waste of cost of production. Even before they clock 10 weeks or 11 weeks, they must have eaten another 9 bags while their weight would still be languishing in maybe 5.1kg of their average weight. That's to depict the feeding won't be efficient anymore which might be cutting down your profit outcome. So you are liable to make more gain when you empty your stock at 6 to 7 weeks than when you do at 10 to 11 weeks.
