Fixing Distractions Damage - What to Do When Day Becomes Too Short?

I have watched yesterday a great post created by @successchar, where she was talking about what to do when obligations get in your way, and she asked her viewers to comment how they react to that problem... I have replied in the comment section of her post, but it made me think deeper about that problem, so I have decided to create a vlog about it...

Yes, we do have daily routines, we have habits, and that helps to organize our daily task how it suits for us... But, it is true that we are not machines, and we are interacting with others in our surroundings, and there are a lot of distractions that can occur... And not just that, but also obligations, as Charletta said in her vlog... And our 2-3 hour work on our online business is reduced to an hour... (or whatever time you are on the computer... I've written 2-3 hours to not be weird with my personal numbers... lol...)

And when then happens, we have more-less two scenarios to choose... You can start stressing, yelling, crying... Or you can try to focus, and do the maximum that you can pull out from the available time...

I tend to choose the second one, but, sometimes, the first option occurs... lol...

Check out the video for my tip about this problem...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

I quite like your approach and I believe your are right about makeing sure to make the minimum each day. This week-end I had tons of work in my day job and I simply didn't manage to do the minimal part. It makes coming back much more difficult because you have to go through all the comments for several days and it takes just so much time just to be up to date again.

...And when you know that you have a pile of work to do all in once, you get discouraged to even start... At least I have that problem... When I know that I have to do A LOT AT ONCE, I delay my start... lol... and make things even worse... lol...

Exact same thing here :-)

I have something similar: a must do list, plus a list of optionals/extras, which would be nice or great to fit in but there's not always time or something else unplanned comes up that takes precedence or simply distracts me.

And our 2-3 hour work on our online business is reduced to an hour... (or whatever time you are on the computer... I've written 2-3 hours to not be weird with my personal numbers... lol...)

I was about to think I am the only 'weirdo', lol.

Exactly! That's almost the same as my thinking and doing... ;)

And regarding working hours... It's better to keep them for ourselves... lol... people can think crazy things about us... lol...

Legit I like that way of making sure things get done. I could use that practice to help me develop some habits that I’d like to see in my life. Thanks for sharing this

Habits are a blessing and a curse... A blessing as you do things by routine, something inside pushes you to do them in a certain hour of a day... And a curse as days is looking the same, boring... But, you can always make some tweaks, and use your free time differently...

I visited your profile to watch your videos in the morning. Then I started doing something else. Yes, got distracted. Oh, man! It's night now. I gotta watch your videos. Otherwise, I could not do it today. And I did. :)

hehehehe... thanks for watching my videos... :) And I had a similar experience a couple of days ago... if I skip the whole day, the next one is an end of the world... So many things to catch up... :)

I like your technique, Zoltan! I am working my way back in to my normal daily tasks. And there are still things that have to get done helping my Dad after my Mom's funeral. I am fortunate that I can adjust my online work schedule as needed.

Yes, adjusting is a good way for doing things... until we have enough hours during the day, it's a good option to use them... :)

Yeah I try not to "wig" out when things take an unexpected turn and my time for work is interrupted. Keeping calm and collective is the best way to go in a situation like this

Yeah... keeping calm is definitely good advice... a bit impossible to be aware of that in "those" moments, but still, good advice... :)

I like your idea, just not that disciplined yet. Right now just go with what the mood strikes me to do. I know not really a plan.

hehehe... Yes, it's not a real plan, but if it works for you, then it is!
Sometimes it's best to go with a flow...

Thanks for the comment!
